This is a song about a real life event with a few liberties. It is acoustic and it's a bluesy kind of rock or a rocky kind of blues. In any case try to relax and enjoy.

Lyrics:
YOUR TENDER SOUL
By© Bernardo Barreto

Well you called me from the Big Corporation
Chased by the monsters of your imagination
Under your desk

Later we met in a Dominican Restaurant
Your beauty hid so well
The torments of your mind.

I took you home and we turned on the TV
We made sweet love and you fell asleep
Under the lights of your Christmas tree.

I touched your hair and saw your restless mind
Struggling with the demons in your dreams
In your dreams.

(solo)

Your tender soul was wide open
Like the wounds of Jesus Christ
Just like the wounds of Jesus Christ

So the next day we went to church
I saw you walking to the altar
Receiving the communion pure as a child
Just like a baby child.

Late that night I felt the sweet taste of your lips
While we said goodbye.
And I took that taste

With the night and the snow across the park.

With your tender soul.

This is one of my favourite tunes &mdash 02/22/08 - 01:37:38 AM
of your recent production; I like the acoustic mood of course but also the percussion setup and panning and the pleasant flowing of the whole piece....let's call it: TopOfThePops blues!

Wow, this is terrifically written. There are so many really incredibly evocative, specific lines. I love "we made sweet love and you fell asleep under the lights of your Christmas tree" and "I took that taste with the night and the snow across the park," especially.

Through my speakers, it sounds as though there's an effect on the vocals that's making them sound a little hard and cold compared to the rest of the track and I'm not fond of that, but it's the only thing I'm not a big fan of here. The rest of the production is stellar, especially the drums and percussion.

I'm a sucker for the slide guitar and you used it really tastefully here.

Thanks!

Crank it up, man! &mdash 02/23/08 - 07:57:03 AM
Lovin' that fretwork! I can see the ghost of Hemingway spying the narrator's life (or yours?) from across the cafe, stealing inspiration from your stories, then turning them into journalism-ese and cashing in. Better if YOU cash in on your musical smarts, though. Good to visit you in a new place (as you know I'm a post iC-crash newbie here.)
