Keywords:
rejection (3)anger (23)mad (9)crazy (66)epithet (1)psycho (13)swing (31)rockabilly (11)twang (6)Strat plus (1)and other keywords coming from the depths of ignorance that MJ addicts will laugh at me for putting here. (1)
Description:
I did this tune while playing lead for my old band, Farmageddon. I got the raw tracks in my hands maybe in early 2006 and mixed it the way I wanted it to sound... MADE LOUD TO BE PLAYED LOUD. It's a two-verse anthem to rejection with that opens up into a rattling instrumental section. The hook is the chorus, which starts with "Why You..."

I'm on all guitars. The band - none online here - supplied great bass, drums and a touch of keys that I kept low here due to the feel I wanted in the mix.

Lyrics:
WHY YOU...
--Words & music: Bob Sperber a.k.a. Bob6stringer

He’d go to work (when) she’d go to play,
He’d look at her, she’d look away
He turned to talk, she turned to run
Dang old girl… ain’t no fun

He wasted time; she wasted space
He lost his turn; she lost her grace
He wanted into her secret place
She slammed the door, right in his face

It’s been a generation, if it’s been a day
This simple salutation is all that’s left to say:

WHY YOU inconsiderate piece of humanity coming from the depths of ignorance! How dare you insinuate that I must tolerate such diabolical nonsense?

Doors have opened, doors have closed,
She can’t count her blessings, he can’t feel his toes.
That old girl just won’t understand;
Inside the beggar beats the heart of a man

He makes a move; she’s out of range
He makes the call; she takes the toll
He’s full of talk; she’s out of change
The more people change, the more they stay the same

Why You...

Rock 'n' roll &mdash 02/21/08 - 12:54:01 PM
What a happy beat and tempo.... Really rock'n'roll.... Amazing how fast you play on guitar... Thumbs up,...

And also good vocals... Both lead, and when you sing in more parts... Great

Thx for 1st comment on 1st tune here! &mdash 02/21/08 - 01:49:22 PM
Lightman, you win the grand prize for offering-up the first comment on my first tune at MacJams. (Luckily, you liked the tune!) Someday I'll have to send you a virtual trophy for that.

BTW the band not online, consisted of: Bruce Bowers (bkg vox), Mark Lopiccolo (bass & bkg vox), Michael Clevinger (keys, low in this mix) and Jeff Maslouski (drums).

when I heard this-I love humor in music.Your guitar playing however is no joke! That's some great playing. The song is very cool, I wasn't expecting that left turn at the bridge.I love the singing. My only suggestion-put up more songs!

Lots of &mdash 02/21/08 - 10:48:15 PM
cool rockin on that guitar. You really love to play the guitar I can sure tell. I thought I was the only overly fanatic guitar player. Just kidding I know there is a lot of us out there. But I really get the impression that the guitar really does mean a lot to you. Just remember to watch out for the end of those strings at the head of the guitar when your sleeping they can poke and stick pretty hard when you turn over at night not knowing what is next to you :)

I know I have ran into you at Icomp and is a delight to know you are here to give your special sense of humor. I know I enjoy the words and the Bill Haley and his comets on steroids :) sound you have with that electric.

You have a lot of fun I can tell with the guitar.

Thanks so much for being a part of MJ, I went through the forum post about icomp. I just had to comment to say the least . I know I was not a very good commenter at icomp. I guess it is almost like juggling with two bowling balls. One is hard enough :)

Good luck to you here Bob, hope you enjoy your stay immensely!

Good luck with that terrific Bill Haley and His Comets on steroids playin :) Terrific !

I'm knocked out &mdash 02/22/08 - 12:06:36 AM
there is not a thing I don't love about this...
you pulled this off in spades... i love the slap back on the guitar... very authentic... I've never attempted a rockabilly... and now I'm sure I won't... i'm seeing you in a whole new light... I love the arrangement... the cuts ... the leads ... knocked out completely... and on top of it all.. you spent some time and worked out a completely entertaining lyric/story... the howl at the end... if we ever play together live... I get to do that ... Right?

you had me laughing in several spots

as my friend Fran says... deep bow

Hey Dude &mdash 02/22/08 - 12:15:11 AM
Good to see you hangin out. Pete was around for a spell then flew the chicken coop. As for the tune, its a monster hit. I think I heard it on icr the other day. Obvious parallels to the stray cats. Great, great stuff. Regards

Wow &mdash 02/22/08 - 10:06:58 AM
How much do I love that chorus? I love it a LOT! So many wonderful big words in such a tiny space and I think more people should rhyme 'ignorance' and 'nonsense'.

This is really catchy and the songwriting is really solid. I really think I'm going to be singing that chorus all day. I also dig the harmonizing on the pre-chorus.

Also, HOLY COW, can you play that guitar!

LOL re: 'ignorance' and 'nonsense' &mdash 02/23/08 - 05:00:08 AM
LeDeb, I'm spelling "laughing out loud" for you regarding your comment about rhyming "ignorance" and "nonsense." I never realized they rhymed, it just fel otu of my mouth that way!

I'm glad there are people out there who can actually play guitar. That's always nice. Of course, everything else on this track is in perfect order. The chorus is absolutely perfect. Love it! Welcome to MJ!

Collab? You're on. &mdash 02/23/08 - 09:05:30 AM
Collab? Consider it in some future when you remind me to get movin' on it with you. Don't let me forget!!! I've got lots more music - mainly with my old band (Farmagedon) that has a more country flavor, if you wanna keep it in that general vein. Let's try to make it happen.

markoo, you're too humble &mdash 02/23/08 - 05:01:03 PM
First, thanks. NExt, you are too humble, I dig your tunes. Thirdly, it's gonna be all downhill from here, becaue this was the only tune I fullow own in which the band backed me up. Finally, I hope you're kinder to my music when you see how far I've fallen!

with a bit of Bare Naked Ladies thrown in ta boot.

I love the tune, Bob... and that bit of a walk-down interlude, "It's been a generation..." is great. You're cooking with more than propane on this one... excellent, high energy throw-back rocker, that is new. Superb guitar, singing, and song-writing!

Killer Killer KILLER! &mdash 02/24/08 - 01:12:39 PM
This is fantastic up, down and sideways! Jaw droppingly awsome from beginning to end. Killer vox! I heard a little Lyle Lovett mixed with Brian Setzer but this this tune was cooler that both those cats put together!

You're crazy - and thanks! &mdash 02/24/08 - 02:40:47 PM
Did the kick-ass Giants ruin your ears? My vox ain't that good! But thanks anyway for the head-swelling. I hope you - all you really kind folks - don't come after me with flaming sticks and garden hoes when you hear the mucus I cough-up next. (It could be a hairball.)

It rocks and it rolls. I'm glad I took your advice and turned the volume up BEFORE I hit play. Great big riffs that were set up just perfectly by the bridge.

This is a total kick ass song, Bob. I took my complimentary copy- thanks!

What a ride! Very cool!

Slinky, sexy, and ballsy tone! Great rockabilly lines. Some harmonic and structural surprises. Just a great piece all around. I definitely agree the guitars on this NEED to be LOUD.

Great song!

From the very first note this is excellent stuff. Great guitar playing with that short delay on it, and rock solid bass and drum work.

Great Rockabilly song &mdash 02/27/08 - 09:12:11 PM
The vocals are right on and so is the rest of this composition. Kind of relates me to the stray cats. Some really cool changes. Thanks for sharing.

Crazy? &mdash 02/27/08 - 09:46:32 PM
Yes I izz! At least I was nuts on this one, because I had a live drummer, recording in real time together, to "fluff" my energy level. I'm without a drummer since the band... I fear I will be drifting in a drummerless, genre-less, void. Now seeking a drummer for a slow, acoustic/weird tune... on my iWeb site pending a decision to post as-is or find a drummer (and add bass): http://tinyurl.com/2o3mjy

now this is real rock'nroll -I can almost smell the inside of the Dansette as I open the lid and watch that old London American logo spinning at the speed of light. Music of the Devil, - how much did he pay you for doing this?

Excellent.
