About 4 years ago I was playing in a group that included Dr. John Chavez on bass and the one and only Scott Spencer of The Scott Spencer Blues Explosion band on drums and myself on guitars and vocals and that's what you'll hear here. Dr. John wrote this song, Scott and I massaged the music a bit and my wife helped out with melodies in the chorus.
We recorded the music for this years ago and I recently stumbled upon a two track mix of just the music (recorded in Studio Vision Pro - anyone remember that program?) so I loaded that in Pro-Tools and added the vocals. I had a cold when I sang it (still have the cold - going on a week now) so i sound a little congested at times.... please excuse. It's a little rough in spots but I liked this song too much not to share.

Damn you. Always with the catchy hook. I love the build up- left me with a smile on my face... but then most of your music does that anyway. It's not easy listening but easy to listen to.

Definitely Feeling The Love!!
Despite the congestion (I'm congested too), this song hits that sweet spot. I loved the funk bass from it's very start. Love the tightness of the band. And the build up to the chorus has me playing this tune over and over again.

Sound quality
There's something strange about this track. The drum is extremely tight and that slap bass is just crystal clear. And then you get those telephone vocals, making me suspect that you had done a low quality track over some professional loops. But then I read the blurb. Hm.

Let's say the difference between the lo-fi vocals and the rhytm track is a bit large for my taste. The excellent guitar work and the harmony vocals kind of bridge the gap, but still. Consider this my challenge, to come up with a more hi-fi sounding lo-fi :-)

For the rest this is a great tune. Catchy and groovy and all that.

Oh, Vision. That got bought by Gibson, which had no clue what to do with it, so they let it die. They did the same thing with Oberheim synthesizers and a bunch more products. Last month they acquired TC Electronics, so the general mood on the forums was "bye bye TC, it was nice knowing you".

The singer is crying out for something bigger than him. I wanted to further illustrate this by making the vox sound small. I could have done this with EQ only but I ran the vox through Amplitube to control the EQ and get a bit of distortion too. To my ears there is no disconnect between the distorted vox and the other elements just as there is no disconnect between the distorted guitars and the other elements. I guess it just comes down to personal preference.

This really is Love!
Absolutely the best damn tune I have heard in a long long while! Love Love Love the hippy trip mixed with the funky Bass. If only I could sing like that with or without a cold.

First of your tunes I have listened to and I suspect I'm in for a treat that is BIGGER THAN ME...Love Love Love out to Detroit!

Catchy goodness ...

.. really great song. It just screamed to be 'bigger' on some sounds: guitars and vocals mostly to my ears.

Bass playing was particularily worth a mention... and I loved the coverart too.
