Description:
This is a remix of the first song I ever posted here. I was never really happy with the sound that version had so I picked up Logic Studio recently & turned it on this tune first. I think it has a far more professional sound now, less of a soupy mess.

Amanda Chapman on vocals, with an assist from her husband Lee.

Lyrics:
Bricks are square and hard and unfeeling.
And just like you it’s destined for bigger things.
(One brick does not a wall make)
Stood alone, a brick is just the beginning.

Gotta get outta here!
I’m gonna build me a wall.
I’m gonna build me a foundation.
I’ve gotta get outta here!
I’ve gott afind me a brick.

You won’t find a man
Who can do you like I can,
Toss you up and over,
make you slip across my tan,
make you scream, make you cry,
make you feel you wanna die,
I’m the tracks for your tram,
I’m the gas in your van.
You won’t find a man
You won’t find a man
Who can do you like I can.

Bricks are tough and square and enduring.
And just like you, they’re a step in right direction.
(One brick does not a wall make)
Stood alone, a brick is the measure of creation.

An endless quest,
A brick:
I cannot search forever ,
Though I will till I die.
I will find you.

My theory aint crazy
And I cant be a lady while I’m looking for a man
And The shit’ll hit the fan
If he can’t hold up to the image of the brick
Then I’d rather have a book
And I know where to look.
And I’m telling you baby
I wanna have a man like a brick, like a fan.
Who know’s how to be a man to woman
Who aint shy, of his girly side,
Still can tough, like a brick.

Bricks are long, and mean and forgiving.
Just like you, they hold a million secrets.
Yeah. (walls have ears).
Bricks go on, when the mortar is crumbling.
They made fade, but they never, never run away.

Bricks are the heart of the very foundation.

Cool Tune Steve! &mdash 02/25/08 - 06:11:14 AM
Pros: Great fade-in Intro, which establishes a Powerful Beat. Vocals are powerful. The backup (spoken words) sounds cool. The electric guitar (lead & rhythm)has a mice heavy sound. I like the ending effect.

Cons: Drums sound a little on the thin side and cymbals are a little too much tinny.

Suggestion: This is a great piece, the drum track(s) could use a little adjusting and a couple drum fills would enhance and interlock the changes in the piece.

Logic8 Rules &mdash 02/25/08 - 07:10:27 PM
Hiya Steve! Man, this sounds absolutely great. Amanda's voice always blows me away, but she sounds especially powerful on this and I really love Lee's backing vocals. I love the production on them; you made a great choice there.

I see those special little words under hardware..."Quad G5"...sigh...jealous.

You did great work with the DOD and your guitars are incredible. I think the mix is really nicely balanced, although using the word "nice" near this powerful song seems a little silly.

Hey Lisa!

I appreciate your kind words for my meager production skills. I think Logic8 did most of the work! :) That and Amanda is sooo talented it's hard to make her sound bad.

And my big Quad... last of it's kind & still a mighty box. if it makes you feel any better, I got it the week before the Mac on Intel announcement. Oops.

Thanks for having a listen,
steve
