Song Description

fluffy little ...

Lyrics:
Firewatch

i was on firewatch
it was a saucer
it was definitely a saucer
it was brighter than a flare
we had them on the hotline

i was on firewatch
it was a saucer
it was definitely a saucer
it was brighter than a flare
we had them on the hotline

when it crash-landed
it was like those legends and myths
after trying to explain it so many times
it became an obsession

when it crash-landed
it was like those legends and myths
after trying to explain it so many times
it became an obsession

quantum gravity
prime obsession
quantum evolution
the time of the test
we were mostly unaware of the changing land

i was on firewatch
it was a saucer
it was definitely a saucer
it was brighter than a flare
we had them on the hotline

i was on firewatch
it was a saucer
it was definitely a saucer

it became an obsession
it was a saucer
it was definitely a saucer

it became an obsession
it was definitely a saucer
it was a saucer

prime obsession
it was definitely a saucer
it was a saucer

the time of the test
i was on firewatch

i once saw a UFO and believed it was real for about two years.

then one day i saw a helicopter landing, and at the tips of the rotors were bright colored streamers - they formed a perfect circle in the air. i don't know if that is a common phenomenon, but it was exactly what i had seen and mistook as a UFO.

you live and you learn.

thanks

This is really really interesting. I can feel the speaker's frustration, having to tell it over and over again. Good use of spoken word to the music background. Thanks

even though it's spoken word, i created and used the text as if it were lyrics. the repetition like that is common in singing, but when applied to spoken words it takes on this interesting hypnotic feel. maybe that always happens with sung words too, but we're so used to it that we never notice?

thanks

good work &mdash 02/23/08 - 12:54:18 PM
I enjoyed this, and will enjoy it again after I download it. The theme of obsession is really established well through the repetition. Music and sounds are great. Thanks for posting it.

shirtless

there is this really interesting space that lies somewhere between spoken verse and sung lyrics. i find it to be a fascinating area, that i think few have explored. (if you can suggest some artists in this field, please do tell!)

see my previous comment.

thank you

p.s. maybe that's why i like William Shatner's CD. (laugh if you will)

Very cool &mdash 02/23/08 - 02:21:23 PM
I remembered the very cool work you did on Rabbit Hole with spoken word, and I had to check this out. Nicely done. Your voice is outstanding. Lovely use of rhythm and sounds, and enthralling narrative. Nicely done. Peace.

thank you very much.

i generally do only a few takes on the spoken track and keep them all. then i spend several hours picking and choosing a good intonation for each phrase, and shifting the timing to exactly the right points. sometimes i need to change the phrase order, or change the music to make it fit the way i want.

(not always though. often the first take is my best take!)

thanks again

i'll take that as a compliment! thanks

i tend to explore atypical stuff in general. this is no exception i suppose.

i really did see a UFO once (see above). that was some of it.

i kept fooling with the drums until i found that beat loop - somehow it fits - i can't explain why though.

thanks
