Description:
This is a completely new arrangement made in Feb 08 of a track which was published in a first version in Aug 07 on icomp.

Vocal setting: Tomàs Luis de Victoria, Spanish composer (1548-1611)
Vocals, Synthwork, arrangement and mix: dirigent

On icomp I published several songs entitled "Stop the War". But I don't want to point at actual political issues or a specific war. So I continue this serial entitled "Stop War".

About "Stop War":
"Stop War" refers to an old text of Jesaja who is regarded as a prophet by Jews, Muslims and Christians: "He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more."

Lyrics:
O vos omnes
qui transitis per viam
attendite et videte
si est dolor similis
sicut dolor meus

English translation of the Latin text:
Is it nothing to you,
all you who pass by?
Look around and see!
Is any suffering like my suffering
that was inflicted on me?

Taken from the "Lamentations of Jeremiah",
part of the Liturgy of the Holy Week of the Roman Catholic Church

This is one of my favorite pieces Andreas, again your vocals shine, and the instruments used are unusual and fitting....

Amazing &mdash 02/25/08 - 07:48:51 AM
effect you have created with your voice and instruments. It really brings home the sad fact that wars have been going on since the beginning, and continue into the modern age. Your voice is incredible, Andreas.

Great Mix &mdash 02/25/08 - 09:38:31 AM
Love the play of voices and synth. Really puts an emphasis on the vocal.

I like the textures and 'wall of sound' in the beginning. Moving vocals, and they contrast well with the sound palette you create. I like the use of dissonance. Quite a foil--chaos in the accompaniment and peace in the vocals. Effective!

Wonderful voice &mdash 02/25/08 - 12:36:54 PM
The sound on the strings, in the beginning... Fills the ears with nice sounds.... And i still love your vocals... I really like your voice in more parts and harmonies... Gives a great feeling, while listening... Thanks for sharing...

This piece... &mdash 02/26/08 - 10:49:06 AM
Is a great expression of artistry and a deep human concern for the way we interact. WAR and self destruction.
Wonderful piece Andreas. One more time.

Great &mdash 02/26/08 - 10:58:19 AM
Vocals are excellent Andreas - interesting musical backdrop, sounds like rain drops and thunder combined (if that makes sense?) They shouldn't work together, but here they do, lovely piece.

Really like this one Andreas &mdash 02/26/08 - 11:20:01 PM
Sehr interessant! The mix of the ancient lyrics with the rest of the electronica soundbed is inspired. Have you ever sung madrigals?

Very very cool.

Thanks,
Doug
