Description:
It's a late title for the season. I'm a late person. In fact, I started this one more than a year ago. Then life took over, and it's my first post since. As usual, working with loops (as starting point), a bit of guit (my Ibanez) and a lot of editing. A ratatouille of my own, mixing everything with everything, as usual, till I find something I like. Was very difficult to find a genre, I don't know what electropop means, seemed close btw…
Hope you're gone like it… (not so sure)

Good &mdash 02/25/08 - 07:09:04 PM
Good to hear from you again. I saw a couple forum comments and hoped to hear a new tune. Electropop works for me, with that thumping bass, excellent groove holding this together. Strings were a bit of a surprise, but they work really well at producing a festiveness in the finale.

Thanks
Bill

Good to see old friends still around the clock. Going to listen to your stuff, but if you have maintained your creativity (I have no doubt about it) I'm going to have a lot of work !
Take care Kenta !

December &mdash 02/26/08 - 06:35:50 PM
I've started this in December 06, dropped down, and finished yesterday night. Yes, a very long winter…
Didn't have the time to hear what you did then, and I'm going to take it...

Long time... &mdash 02/25/08 - 11:11:58 PM
no hear Youra. Good to see you are posting again. I, too have been on a work imposed hiatus. Very groovy little number you have here. It really picks up and gets fun at about 2/3 through with the strings loop. Great job, and a nice hello!

Strings... &mdash 02/26/08 - 06:56:55 PM
Yes, good to be back. I'm exploring my new set of strings and I'm freaking out ! Expect some more ratatouille next post - the guit is rusting, haven't touch it for more than a year. There's some work to be done.
Thanks for passing by, Philip !

Wow &mdash 02/26/08 - 12:13:28 AM
Great tune - love the guitar juxtaposed with the heavy electronic sounds. The string section is lovely, really playful.

A great return!

Collages &mdash 02/26/08 - 07:11:29 PM
Yes, I like these kind of musical "collages" as I would say for a graphic work, juxtaposition as you mentioned. I try to play with contrasts, and mostly keep it groovy…
Thanks for kind words, Echo.

I like the way this trots along. Must be that bass line. It reminds me a bit of Astro Bar (still gets lots of play in my iTunes library!). Nice to see you posting again!

Work &mdash 02/26/08 - 07:39:07 PM
AstroBar is my biggest effort on guitar, so far. In both, I've try to stay minimal, here the bass line, with something more luxurious in the textures and weird combinations.

Thanks for your words, Mrs Chaos.

really like this number - cool pulse and nice juxtaposition of sounds and textures. Dig your guitar coming through - bring it on more.

Bass lines &mdash 02/27/08 - 03:05:04 AM
Yes I kept them very simple, and worked more on the texture. I noticed something weird appearing around 1:09 I didn't heard at first… but yes, the idea was around this, hypnosis and a somewhat dreamy overall.
Thanks for passing by, falzaabi

mystic snow falling feel to it. Loved the guitar and other bits as well. The strings give this a festive feel. Thanks for sharing.

Mystic snow &mdash 02/27/08 - 10:44:21 AM
More into visual, this snow falling from nowhere was the first impression I had at start with this contemplative synth loop. It was harking me back to the glass bowl of my childhood. Rosebud, did you said ?

Experimenting the possibilities of GB is really exciting. I don't play much guitar on this one, sometimes matching the perfect execution of some loops is too challenging...
Thanks for your support, Mc Boy !

Very glad you liked it. You right, it's probably more jazzy than pop, but I wouldn't dare to label what I do under this.
Thanks for your support

Loved the movement... &mdash 03/04/08 - 12:47:22 PM
in this piece. Understated and cool. Fantastic bluesy guitar. I liked the strings but they sounded a tad thin. Overall very enjoyable work.
Best,

flow &mdash 04/30/08 - 11:40:44 AM
Youra, I like the smooth electro-blues flow this has until the strings, where it all gets a little choppy. It's a nice change up. The mixture of the two movements at the end is a nice way to close it all out. Nice form.

I would have liked to hear the strings change it up a bit, but I know how tedious it is programming three to four voices in a string quartet---blah!

It has a good feel to it.

Hi greg ! &mdash 05/01/08 - 05:41:51 AM
Thanks for lending your ears and yours "on the spot" comments. You point on something I can only agree with you. I don't know much about composition, all I do is following my intuition. Theses are all loops I chopped (I love strings) but I'm really far to be able to write something for a string quartet. I'm starting (well, I'm trying to find the time to) take guitar lesson, I hope it will result in some knowledge about music !
