I had lots of fun with it. The sax has such a great sound you just can't help but loss yourself in it. You're always so kind an generous my friend. It's so good to hear from you.
Take care,
Charlie

love the skittery rhythm &mdash 02/26/08 - 11:27:57 AM
Perhaps a little change in dynamics or added instrumentation in a couple of spots to break up the consistency of this would be nice, but it is a catchy backing and fun improvi-sax over it... the backing piano bit has almost a hint of a 5/4 version of Carol of the Bells... so with some bells or chimes here and there, or harp, this could suddenly be a winter tale.

Drakonis

Thanks Eduard... &mdash 02/27/08 - 02:44:56 PM
for checking "Jamie" out.
Love the primal quietly of "Carol of the Bells" and if "Jamie" in some ways evokes that, I'm honored -though I'm not a big fan of winter - even winters here in San Diego.
Take care,
Charlie

Sweet &mdash 02/27/08 - 07:03:25 PM
Nice piece of mood music.

Of the strings you're only using the violins, right? Maybe try to put some lines under it, some viola, cello, bass? That would thicken out the texture a bit.

Dark days &mdash 03/02/08 - 02:06:26 AM
This has a great sense of motion, trees and wet streets whipping past, cherry tops flashing, and a sustained sense of drama. Very evocative piece, Charlie.

I love... &mdash 03/02/08 - 11:38:19 AM
losing myself in a piece of music. I've done so in many of yours Enrique.
So glad you like this.
Best,

Enjoy &mdash 03/04/08 - 09:03:50 AM
the horn in contrast with the piano and how they weave their magic. Like the whirling twirling dance sound that he tunes seems to give as it goes along.

This girl Jamie must be a good dancer or at least give the impression that she can be.

Thanks for sharing

It's wonderful to have you back here again. You're such a talented young musician with a wonderful future ahead of you. I'm very happy you enjoyed "Jamie's Gone" and that it put you in a good mood. What more can I ask for?

Beat &mdash 03/04/08 - 02:37:33 PM
I have to agree that the beat is very interesting. The sax part draws you through the piece. Maybe a little more sax and a little less piano in some of the later spots would help the listener follow the complex sax line even better. I like the string parts, very well placed!

Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill, &mdash 03/04/08 - 06:56:45 PM
You know a thing or two about the Sax yourself as I discovered myself today.
I appreciate the advice and the careful listen and I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
Best,
Charlie

I have this image &mdash 03/06/08 - 10:52:11 AM
of a young girl dancing with swirling motions, arms extended, and colourful gossamer material extending from both arms accentuating her every movement. Love the syncopated interplay between the instruments and how they do their own dance in this time signature.

Thanks for sharing,
Doug

I can see her very clearly... &mdash 03/06/08 - 11:09:49 PM
and like you I would love to see her dance.
Thanks Doug - for the kind words and the lovely image.

Interesting rhythms. It's kind of minimalist and loopy. I like the lop-sided effect.
