Description:
It's just been so long. I needed to put something out. I hope you enjoy it.

Doug

I'll have to troubleshoot my cables again. I think there's an issue with one of the adapters...

Lyrics:
You, you are like still water
I look at you and see me
And in my heart is you

Dip my hand
Soft ripples
Roll away
From your heart

Inside you is a power
Grows within your heart of grace
Flows like water to me

Still water
Look in deep
To your soul
But a glimpse

Wonderful comment. I didn't try too hard to eliminate the background noise. But I have a theory! I may revisit this one. Until then, I agree with you! It does bring the song closer. As if standing in a light fog, all you can see is what's in front of you.

Thanks my friend,
Doug

Hey Feter! &mdash 02/26/08 - 11:37:49 AM
Thanks brother. I am working on recording with few takes and tracks, right now. Subsequently, I sink into the music a bit more and ignore technical issues.

Seems right.

Thanks for your appreciation!

I love the whole feel of this. It's so relaxed and pretty and just beautifully reflects (no pun...) the meaning of the lyrics. Your voice is just sweet as anything, Doug.

I think your interpretation and performance is a really nice choice and very memorable. I'm downloading this one. Thanks for allowing that.

Yup, you're right. I didn't feel justified to extend it. It would have been so much fluff, I guess.

Unconventional, delicate and light, and very suggestive of the physical properties you sing about, and the power of simple emotions to effect change. This frailty is lovely.

Thanks for the comments. I had considered running DeEsser. In the end, the sounds added to the intimacy of it all.

Hey Miss C! &mdash 02/27/08 - 11:35:33 AM
I'm glad you like it. To me, it is like a concentrate or packet. Maybe like one of those little breath mint strips that you put in your mouth and it explodes into flavor.

If I remember, you are from Milwaukee, right? I'm sure you're not missing shovel season in WI, this year!

Peace,
Doug

:-) I moved to Texas from Milw almost 2 years ago. But I hear this is WI's 10th worst winter on record. Don't miss it a bit!

Now that's not .. &mdash 02/28/08 - 03:26:24 PM
.. what I was expecting! Shades of Mr Young. Lovely song and a really different approach - you could easily have gone for the strumerama approach here (which would still have worked) but this is more interesting.

Yeah, those cables need to be retired I'd say Doug ;)

Cheers,
Neil

I'm glad you listened!

This is my first attempt at a "Love Song." It was really a creation of that particular moment. Interesting how sometimes one can get into the depth of the picture we are trying to create.

Cables.

Yup! One of these days and I'm getting a whole new system.

Very immediate sounding- &mdash 03/01/08 - 01:59:41 PM

Minimalism rules herein!

Beautiful work Doug. Perhaps your best vocal delivery to date.

Deeply spiritual concept conveyed in almost koan-like lyrics.

Love the sound of that guitar too. Nice subtle effects.

Be well friend!

Beautiful singing &mdash 04/01/08 - 09:55:24 PM
on this one, and what a haunting, almost ethereal performance, like something heard on a radio in a car traveling down a melancholy highway. Lovely lyrics, great guitar sound. This is beautiful. Nicely done, my friend. Peace.
