Description:
This is an exercise in simplicity for me. I have a tendency to overplay and try to cram too many notes in - espicially when soloing. So with this song I tried very hard to keep it simple and open.

It was recording using Logic Studio along with Ni Akoustik Piano and Chocolate Audio bass. The drum is a simple Apple loop.

It is meant to be enjoyed with what ever brings you simple pleasures - for me, it's a nice cup of coffee with Suz -

Hardware:
Yamaha C3 - Midi-Grand

Software:
Logic Studio, NI Akoustik Piano, Chocolate Audio Bass, Apple Loop and Ev-88

love the nighttime feel to this.Kinda snap your fingers feel good as your cruisin the city streets on a summers night. Love the trio sound and placements of the notes.

Really nice here.

Way to go!

for the comments. I worked really hard on not over-playing and keeping it simple while at the same time keeping it interesting having the whole thing go somewhere.

Thanks for listening and your comments.

Nice jazz.... I like when the song "breaks", in the rhythm-section... Really peaceful music... I enjoy listening to it... Good overall sound on this... Great work...

Thanks for your comments - I like that break too, and it just kind of came out of no where - I love it when that happens.

Thanks again -

Very cool &mdash 03/02/08 - 05:43:31 PM
As Bill says, "nightime feel". Simple and relaxed. Harmony parts with the vibes and piano sound lovely. Nice mix too. A little clipping on the vibes in the LH channel, but not a major problem.
Like it a lot.

clipping &mdash 03/03/08 - 08:09:57 AM
Yeah - I think that is part of the Rhodes patch that I used. I need to go back and check that out again. Perhaps a different Rhodes will change things. I didn't notice any clipping on the track when I was mixing.

Thanks for you comments.

Fabulous recording. Clarity, ambience, precise playing, sonic details like crystals in a winter night, great mix. So pleasurable. Wonderful track.

After listening to "Mid-Morning" just now, I thought I'd check out your page and see what else you've got. Then I laughed at your description here - if you ever listen to my music, you'll see I suffer terribly from "too many notes syndrome" as well. You've avoided that admirably here, and written a really terrific tune with lots of "room". If you wouldn't mind telling me your secret.....lol - thanks for the great music!

for your comments. I can tell you that each time I played through it, I had to constantly remind myself that with this piece, "less is more, don't over do it" It took a number of times before I was satisfied with the amount of notes and the feel of the piece. It worked on this one, perhaps it won't on the next.

Thanks again for your comments -

Sits just right &mdash 09/18/08 - 01:56:13 AM
Yes you nailed it. I always try to remember The Police and their ability to color the space inbetween the notes. Cheesy and overused phrase but it fits "Less is More" especially in the tasteful piano improvising. Wonderful track

Less is most often more, I agree. I am glad you liked the track and thanks for taking the time to comment.
