Description:
When I first started playing the guitar, I was lucky to have a friend that gave me a copy of "Live At The Fillmore" by the Allman Brothers Band.Listening to them jam for 15 minutes on one chord was(And still is)an amazing experience.Duane Allman is still probably my favorite rock guitarist. This song doesn't really sound like Duane, but the inspiration is there. If you get bored feel free to turn it off.

said one chord ?) ...this is just fantasrtic my
friend .true master piece makes me beleive an -
electric guitar can do all sotra music with flavour
too .thnx alot for sharin such gem my friend !!
Ibstrat
so much Feter!By one chord I meant that they would jam in one key for a long time. They might actually be playing 2 or 3 chords but just thinking of soloing in like Am.Glad you liked it!
Ed Hannifin
..or maybe the harmonic feel... what do I know... that recalls something between 'Mountain Jam' and 'Elizabeth Reed'... and reminds ME of Dicky Betts, too...
I always love your playing, Mark. This sounds very nicely recorded to my ears. Clean and full.
I knew I went wrong when I learned that second and third chord...
Nice picture of Duane, too... and playing an SG, if I'm not mistaken...
Ed
Ibstrat
a good thing you learned those.(See above)
Bob6stringer
Is this a jazz medley called "In Memory of Whipping Back Door Elizabeth Hoochie Koochie?" I understand the one-chord issue Feter questions. Pick a scale and goooooo!!!! I love your chord chops, man I'd give anything (but, evidently, time and practice) to do that! This doesn't get tired at all, the dymanics - emotions, whatever you want to call the placed you went here - just keep it cracking. I clicked on some heart candy for you and will come back for that free DL treat when I have my external (iT library) connected.
Ibstrat
did you know my original title?I changed it for fear of copyright violations.

You have an unbelievable sense of feel... hearing people like you that have mastered this instrument is very inspiring... after 20 odd years of mucking about on guitar I'm going to take some lessons (starting this week) to try and take my playing to the next level... but man, I really don't think I have enough years left to ever get to where you are.
Great jam and a great addition to my library! Thanks you!

and fun to listen to, kind of reminds me of a laid back dave brubeck but only guitar.
I met his brother Gregg at the front of the last house i had in Corte Madera Ca. Upon him driving up and stopping to talk to him, he had a dollar green corvette at the time with brass muffles. He was listening to his latest album. But the first thing he said is that he grieves every day for his brother. He didn't even know me from adam at the time. He was dating my tenant, he invited me to his house I jammed with him at the back of the house near were Rachel lived in the small cottage my wife and had as a rental. I enjoyed playing a piece called "Little Martha", Duane wrote that. A nice little fingerstyle piece.
This tune you play is very nice indeed!
Thanks for sharing
Ibstrat
an amazing story.I love "Little Martha" the 1st song I ever tried to play in open E tuning.Really cool that you got to hang out with Gregg. Thanks for checking out my song!

people get bored with guitar noodling. My sister went to see the Allmans once- she came back and said that she hated it."Too many long guitar solos"(Not sure what she was expecting). Thanks for your comments Lengold!

Just amazing, how you such a substantial composition, constantly inventing something new and interesting to listen to. I'm always impressed by your playing, your feel, your tone, but this feels completely 'composed', in that the structure is so well executed. Great stuff. All tens.
Ibstrat
I did have the main riff and bridge worked out- the middle is just messing around over a 16 bar repeating progression. Thanks for your extremely kind words!

I never played guitar but I've always longed to. and if i could it would be with the grace and feel you've demonstrated here. I can totally hear you channeling the noodlings of duane himself (also one of my fav's). very cool

I'm very glad you liked the song.Always great to hear from you!

.. hit any wrong notes? ;) Lovely playing on a simple theme (simple in structure, but it doesn't sound simple to play). I can't offer any more regarding your amazing playing, but I can offer that you seem to have improved considerably in the quality of the recording on this one. The low signal/high noise situation you usually have is absent for most of the song, although it shows up a little in the quiet passages. Are you playing near a flourescent light or something? Just a thought.
Wonderful post!

Ibstrat
tons of wrong notes all the time.I just try to get out of them by sliding or pull-offs into a note that sounds good.I did use one of guitapick's suggestions on this- I overdubbed it with 2 panned left/right and one in the middle.Keep telling me about buzzing,or anything you can think of to make my recordings sound better-I really appreciate your input!
Nice playing, enjoyable note progressions, you manage to present a full soundstage with one guitar, very pretty
Ibstrat
I highly enjoy your music.
SinJimMusic
Wow, I'll just sit back and let this flow into my head. I loved it. Your skill as a guitarist really shines here. Just speaks to me of what one is currently feeling let out through the guitar. Great track, thanks for posting!
Ibstrat
very much-enjoyed your latest tune a lot!
futzpucker
Man, I love your playing and your writing... Great touch here, great changes, wonderful sound, surprising turns, complete command. This has it all. Your playlist on my iPod expands. I am very grateful - I enjoy your music immensely.
Ibstrat
your very kind words.I'm really happy that somebody is actually listening to my music on their ipod!

I love the guitar. I have met a lot of people who think they are guitar players. It's nice to hear one for real. Thanks.
Ibstrat
Just checked out your page-you are an amazing talent!
Hi lbstrat
Nice clean sound on the guitar and well played. Ideed. Must have taken some time to exercise that.
Duane Allman is actually rated as no. 2 in the world by rolling stones. You can see it here at this link: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/5937559/the_100_greatest_guitarists_of_all_time/
A shame he didn't stick around more than 24 years imagine what he would have been able to play today and the same goes to Jimmi Hendrix ...
Keep on playing the guitar my friend you are doing well. I like some of the jazz-swing in it.
/C.
Ibstrat
lists are usually pretty silly but I think they got the 1st 2 right! Thanks for the link.I just checked out your page-nice stuff!
Tadashi Togawa
Your guitar is jazz and beauty like the oil painting is made to be
felt.
Very beautiful pronunciation and adequate play.
And, it develops the composition in there is an intonation.
Ibstrat
for the comment.I love your music.

I hear strains of one of my favorite jazz tunes Blusette by Toots Thieleman. Great invention and flow. I really enjoyed this.
Ibstrat
is a great song.I'm sure I ripped off some of it.Thanks for the comment!
davisamerica
lol... i started by second playback ..... very wonderful!!
Ibstrat
for listening-glad you enjoyed it!
Mcboy
to mention the "some of my favorite things" vibe i got from the piece.....hehhehhe
Ibstrat
understand the comparison- you mean because they are both in 3/4 time, both in minor keys, have similar chord progressions and similar melodies?
eleveneyes
this is great! great composition, tone, performance. Very cool. Duane is one of my favorite guitarists too but I think Mark Stunova is quickly becoming another one of my favorite guitarists!
Ibstrat
I am a huge admirer of yours- I'm really flattered that you like what I'm doing.
dajama
You are such a melodic and clean player. I don't think I could play anything for 30 seconds without fluffing something (luckily I bury my guitar in tracks so nobody can hear the fluffs - I hope!), and here this is - beautiful. The idea that this would be boring is hilarious. Dynamic, melodic, and rich with ideas. Very nice, my friend. Sorry it took me so long to get here! Peace.
Ibstrat
great to hear from you.I love your music. Thanks!
This is excellent by all means Master Mark, your playing is amazing as always and the quality of this is just GREAT! ... What a great download ?!
Thanks so much for taking the time to do it and post it.
Take Care

Hi
I am not an expert and am still learning to play my own guitar. However this was really good and extremely nice to listen to and I did not get bored at all.
In fact I wanted it to go on longer it sounded so nice. Thanks for sharing

Ibstrat
glad you liked the song.Guitar is a great instrument. You only need to know a few chords to do something creative with it.
Bowman
twists and turns. Wasn't a big fan of the Allmans but like this quite a bit. You've got your own style. Wasn't board for a second. Well done my friend.
Best,
Charlie
Ibstrat

Good stuff. I see you don't really need my modest help on your songs :)
You made my work a little easier tonight with this tune.
Ibstrat
I think your help on my last tune was slightly more than modest!
Kenta_and_Linda_Rocks_together
This is so nice and relaxing song you play this like a god. Kudos
Ibstrat
noticing that people have been writing "Ibstrat is God" on walls all over my town... ha ha.I don't think my playing is quite at God's level yet. There's a video of him jamming on youtube which is just amazing. Thanks for the comment- glad you liked it!

You got it going on,Brings back memories of the Jazz workshop in Boston in the 60's perfect for a nice smoke and glass of wine,
MarkHolbrook
love this... I love how it works with itself not requiring anything else to sound full and rich. Very very nice!
