Keywords:
accoustic (103)piano (620)
Description:
This came after Illinoi and was a spontaneous effort by our lead guitarist and myself. We had graduated from a 4 track tape to a Tascam 8 track. He laid down the guitar and I came back and did the piano (hence the slight disjointed feel). The piece was written for guitar and the piano was really the result of a solo jam session with the tape one night. Unfortunately, none of us were good vocalists!

Hardware:
Yamaha studio upright piano, accoustic guitar, some mics, tascam 8 track tape and a couple of guys that had no clue what they were doing!

Software:
None

Thanks... I've heard your stuff here on MJ and well I have a long way to go (since I'm alone these days) to come close!

This song was written by our lead guitarist Wade and he is singing. The backup vocals are myself and several others (hard to hear but we are there).

The song originally was just Wade and the plucked guitar. After he recorded that, one night I listened to it and just threw the piano track down. We had no music to play from so I played it by ear. Not surprisingly the first cut was the best. I tried on subsequent cuts to improve my timing, fix errors but they just got worse so we left it with the first one.

The piano was a Yamaha Studio upright and after much practice I had learned to mic it pretty well.

Thanks so much for your comments. It's hard for me to believe this was done back in 1978. MIDI? What the heck is MIDI!? :-)

These are gorgeous songs you're singing (I've listened to 3 of yours now). I really love your voice. The piano here is great - nice dynamics - like I said, you should be famous! Nice to meet you on the chat - thanks

The piano... &mdash 03/25/08 - 08:16:29 AM
Just makes this song. I can see the rough spots but based on your description I understand how they came to be.

This is great, very much of its time and all the better for that cos the '70s were my fave decade.I like the juxtaposition of acoustic piano and acoustic guitar and they fit seamlessly as though it were a live jam, not as you say a seperate overdub....eyup hark at me and me flash lingo...I'm off now afore I get too sharp and cut mesen'

Jarvo..-0 ..bugrit I'll do a face oneday

WOW Man, this is a very great piece of work. Your vocals here sounds at its best, the whole composition sounds great to my ears. I can't comment really on your playing because you know that you're a real master... This piece left me speechless... Thanks a lot for sharing. A real GEM!

Take Care

great. I love the raw feeling you get from it, the piano just sounds amazing. With the arpegiated (cannot spell that) guitar picking and the REALLY REALLY NICE vocal harmonies, it reminded me ever so slightly of The Who's 'Behind Blue Eyes'. Really enjoyed listening to this . Thank You!

Made/Make lovely music together. You are are brilliant keyboardist. Keep on not knowing what you are doing. When I said that to someone once, she said, "But, you have more experience not knowing what you're doing than anybody else I know!" It works, at any rate. Thanks!
