Description:
Maybe country rock. Previously submitted

Lyrics:
There’s a town in Northern Alabam,
You can walk right in with an empty hand
They’ll fill it up with hot desire
You got a spark? You got your fire!
But don’t you let ‘em know your name
You won’t live down the shame
And your own mama will deny
That she even knows you!

Now if your comin’ in on the county road
You’re gonna pass a bar called “The Flattened Toad”
You better do your drinkin’ fast
Across the street, the sheriff buys his gas
And he’ll see your one mistake
You don’t have Alabama plates
So “There ain’t no parkin’ here, son,
You jest better git on!”
No stoppin’ in Shametown, Sha…..ame – town

Well, the best advice that you’ll ever hear
Doesn’t float too good in a glass of beer
If I were you, I’d turn right around,
But if you were me, you’d head straight for town
There’s perfume in the air,
Like the bait in a trapper’s snare
And Ol’ Temptation’s
Whisperin’ in the wind

“Come on into Shametown; take a walk, look around
Let me introduce you to my friend.
Buy this, buy that. Double all your money back
Just turn around and sell it again
Here’s my lovely daughter. You’re lucky that you caught her
She won a blue ribbon for her twirl
She’s a cheerleadin’ fool, she makes the boys drool
But she’s been a lonely girl
If you want to see more, then you use the back door
Cause you live and learn, you live and learn, you live and learn
When you’re living in Shametown, Sha…..ame – town

Now, if you’re thinkin’ of slippin’ out of town
You better wait until the sun goes down
There’ some won’t want to see you go
So let your headlights hit a darkened road
And it’s a lonely drive back home
When you’ve lost everything you own
But you will never convict these
Burglers of your soul
When you’re runnin’ from Shametown, Sha…..ame - town

this is Great! &mdash 02/28/08 - 05:06:37 PM
The very beginning, before the vocals start, reminds me of the opening to "The Munsters" - do you know what I mean?? This is, like Feter said, great classic country rock. Totally enjoyed it!

[ Reply to This ]
Yes, I can see it now &mdash 03/01/08 - 11:15:45 PM
I can see the Munsters living here, but probably in the more affluent and respectable neighborhoods, (if there are any in Shametown). Thanks.

Great song. &mdash 02/28/08 - 07:20:39 PM
This is like something from Pulp Fiction , which has top notch songs strewn throughout.
A song like this is timeless , and will always be in vogue.

Lyrics are very engaging humourous and easy to make out , which I cant say for a lot of what I hear on radio nowadays.

I think Pulp fiction should have picked you for the soundtrack.

Yeah, Pulp fiction &mdash 03/01/08 - 11:25:52 PM
Shame we missed the bus. We'll go through our "shame series" and try to be ready for the next one. Loved that movie, (which shouldn't surprise you) Thanks for the kind words. Terry

Pulp fantastic &mdash 02/29/08 - 11:43:47 AM
Yeah there is a certain PF vibe happening here, sorta' spaghetti western meets California surf style with a modern davisamerica2 flair. Can't help but love every little shameful element you've got going on here.Loved it!

Blessings,

Love that western/surf analogy &mdash 03/01/08 - 11:59:59 PM
Such a contrasting mixture might explode in a science lab, but it seemed to work here. I assure you though that this experiment was done in a controlled environment, and no one was ever in any danger. Blessings back atcha Daniel. Terry.

Great classic rock and roll &mdash 03/01/08 - 07:46:42 PM
built around a basic progression but humming like a 57 Chevy down Route 66. Love the breaks too. Great tune.

Hey Thanks Boss &mdash 03/02/08 - 12:11:48 AM
Now that you mention it, that is what we have here. A restored 57 Chevy, and it does feel good to drive. Thanks for the comparison! Hate to let go of that old rock and roll. Thanks for listening.

love this really style rock &mdash 03/02/08 - 09:47:32 PM
kind of reminds me of Ray Stevens. I'll bet you like him yourself. You have that fun style here. It really has a fun wacky sound that is joyful to hear. This is the type of thing that I used to love about earlier country, earlier rock etc. It is the electric textures, plus the vocal is FUN!

Would love to hear more of this type of thing. You don't hear enough of this. A bit of John Anderson I hear as well.Though I know you own style but when I hear cool and fun things I hear musical stars in my ears. Fun!

Ray Stevens, yeah &mdash 03/05/08 - 10:19:55 PM
I do like him. And yeah, this was a fun song. Don't know when or where I met this character, but I found this mental note back in my head and thought I would try his shoes on. Don't think I would ever want to go to Shametown. And what would Mama say? Thanks for listening, and for the kind comments. Terry

Yeah Dee, &mdash 04/30/08 - 05:27:35 PM
You got my name right. I'm Terry, the evil twin. But you misspelled "brilliant," but who am I to say? I misspelled "mispelled.") Stay away from those Shametowns, Dee. they're everywhere. But check out this new song that Feter's put out. It needs a nice blues harp in E. I don't have one. I only own 2, a C & G. I like your playing. Thanks for listening. Terry.
