Description:
Since I just bought myself a new iMac and Apple's Logic Express, I thought I'd celebrate by trying out some stuff in Logic. And since this is my first time creating anything in Logic, (I'm no longer a virgin), I've posted the results here just for the fun of it. Hence the title "Logical First Step"
Oh, in the original posting, I forgot to mention that this song is ALL LOOPS.
I thought it was time to come clean.
Hope you enjoy listening as much as I did playing around in my new sandbox.

Glad it got you rockin'. It's all experimental, just playing around with some loops and stuff to see how Logic works. It's a great program, but it's sure a lot different then Cubase SE3. I can see it's gonna take some time to learn my way around the program.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words Feter. Always a pleasure to see you drop in and have a listen to one of my songs.
Be well my friend.
Ed
work. It sounded amazing in the headphones!

Really glad you stopped by to listen. Like I said, I just got one of the new iMacs along with Logic Express so I had to put it to work right away and see what this baby will do. So far, so good, but there's gonna be a learning curve to Logic I can tell already. I guess the only time I'll stop learning is when they shovel dirt over me and plant some flowers. I think I rather face the learning curve.
Thanks again for the kind words. Be well my friend.

Glad you like my little foray into the Dark Side. Hope it doesn't upset anyone that I tried this kinda thing. But I wasn't always a country musician and sometimes when I get an itch, I scratch it.
Thanks again for the nice comments Bob, they are greatly appreciated my friend.

feel right out of the outback :)
Very country funk. All the parts are grooving very tight. Not sure if ive heard this ultra funkness from you. You really seemed to have done your funky homework. Enjoying the many aspects of the lead. Your putting em in tastefully as well,. Not just alot of mindless leads. Done with taste. Like that rhythm with the guitar. And the list goes on.
This was fun to hear! Be careful with logic, no body in your family may see you again, you might get stuck in that room were your puters at and they may never find you. Logic can do that to you! And I thought GB was addicting:)

Funny you should mention the outback. One of the voices I used to lay down a bed under the rest of it is a Didgeridoo, straight out of the outback, don't ja know.
I'm having more fun since I got the new iMac then a person should be allowed to have with their clothes on. And you're right, since I got the new iMac I've become a figment of my families imagination. It can only go downhill from here seeing as how I bought Logic too.
Anyway, thanks for all the great words Bill, they are sorely needed and much appreciated.
Be well my friend

sounds great! If this is your first try I can't wait to hear what you come up with in a few months!

But I'm not in any hurry. I want to take my time and get to know the ins and outs of Logic as I go. Haste make waste they say and it's true. You can easily overlook some really important stuff if you get in a rush.
Anyway, thanks again for the kind words Mark, I really do appreciate them. Be well my friend.

This is fantastic Ed. Your guitar playing is amazing. The new sandbox seems to be very motivating. Great track, very well produced, congrats!

But I can't take credit for the Guitar playing on this one I'm afraid. Like I said I was playing around in Logic and put this together, but to be honest all I did was arrange it. It's all loops that are in Logic. I normally don't post just loops, but I couldn't resist this time since it was my "Logical First Step". I'm sorry if I deceived any of you into thinking I was that good on a guitar, that was not my intention. I just liked what I heard so I posted it.
Never the less, I'm glad you like the mix and the way it came out. Thanks for commenting on it Andreas. I'll try to be more careful in the future about stating that it's all loops if I ever do one like this again.
My apologies to all of you if you were misled.
Thanks again Andreas

I was giving the Logic loops a workout. Sorry, I forgot to mention it was all loops in the song information.
My apologies to you My friend.

This is supercool Ed. I know it's loops but what a way to put them together. It has a great groove. Super funky rock!

Yeah I kinda liked the sound of it myself. And of course you're right it is loops, all loops.
After I started reading the comments on my "great guitar playing" I checked the song info and sure enough, I left out the part about it being just loops. Oh well, to err is human I guess.
But that said, it still sounds pretty great to me and I guess I'm not the only one who liked it.
Thank again B for the kind words, and you are very astute catching that little error of mine and subtly letting me know.
Be cool B, talk to you later

sounding great...licks are comming in nice and clear...nice clarity to the mix......i'm sure u'll have plenty of fun with logic!!
sloparts
Yeah it does sound pretty great, and yeah I am gonna have a lot of fun with it. But now that I've made an ass out of myself by deceiving everyone, albeit not intentionally, I guess I better get back to work on doing "My" thing and leave the loops alone for a while.
Sorry about the confusion, but I'm still glad all of you listened and like the sound of it. I'll try very hard to be more careful in the future.
Thanks again my friend for listening and taking time to comment.
Ed
gitting down real low... with da groovin' machine from da funky-sloparts. Heheheh. Nice riffing there, Ed... very funky and movin'groove. Cheers!

Glad you liked it. It was sure fun playing around with Logic for the first time and this is the results.
Thanks again for the Funky Groovie words Dude.
By the way I like you new song "A Day In Her Life", but I guess I'm bucking the trend of opinion on this one. Love the song but want more meat on the bones. I posted a review.
Take care my friend

Take care John and keep up the good work.

Hi Ed
I'm sorry to see that you were not playing the guitars. But they are all nicely arranged.
Make it very good to listen to and gives one some ideas for solo's.
Thanks for sharing.

As I said in the intro, this was just my first attempt to make some music in Logic, and a step in the learning process. Later on I'll get back to actual song writing and producing when I feel more comfortable using Logic as my main DAW.
I was using Cubase SE3 on my old PowerMac, but it doesn't want to run on the new Intel iMac so it's GB or Logic for a while until I get a better handle on using Logic
Anyway, I'm glad you stopped in for a visit and found something worth listening to. And also for taking time for comment. Your kind words are very much appreciated my friend.
Be well
Ed
