	GREAT POP Great pop tune Dajama! Really sounds like Bryan Ferry and I mean that in a very cool and sophisticated way. Started out without confidence in the vocal but you really picked it up within the first verse. Great job!

Sweet
This is a great head-bobbing, foot-tapping song. I really like the bridge part that starts with "Now the room's in disarray". Great lyrics. The lyrics kind of remind me about climbing out of a well taking one step up but falling two steps backwards. This is a great relationship song and I think a lot of people could relate to it in some way. Thanks for sharing!

Glad you liked it. It is what it is, and what it is is really just a pop/rock song. If it makes your head bob and your foot tap, then my work here is done! One reason I pursued the idea was that my son loved the initial version I banged out on acoustic guitar and danced every time I played it, so I reckoned there had to be something there! I was thinking about writing cheerful lyrics more suited to younger ears, but I guess I don't have them in me! Anyway, I liked the idea of the contrast between the bright music and the slightly darker ideas in the words, if that makes sense.

	Smoothie Yeah, this has a real Ferry feel to it, very 80's pop feel to it (with added nasty guitars). Great guitar work - I love the solo - and another nice vocal, very nicely understated. ...that you would stop mining my past life and general all around psyche for your songs... Oh sure, they come out great and all, but it's like finding my mind out walking around without me...

Nevertheless, this is a great recording of a great song. I continue to love your voice. Yes, I hear that touch of Bryan Ferry, and also a bit of a Roxy-ness to the rhythm...

But the problem I have with making critical comments is that when a song is really good I just stop listening that way... Like, what? I was supposed to be listening critically?

I'm delighted you mentioned
the bass. The song went from a strummed song on the acoustic to the way it is now because of the bass. I was trying to get something that sounded decent on the bass, and I was having a hard time. I discarded numerous efforts, and then I came up with the riff that runs through the verse. I doubled it on the guitar, and the other parts kind of fell into place from there. It amazes me how songs come together sometimes. It feels like it's different every time for me. I wonder if other people have some systematic approach, because I know I don't!

Minority Report
This is a very catchy pop/rock tune, David, with lots of great elements going for it. A great piece of song writing, performance and production in several respects.

Unlike the majority though, I didn't like the overly-distorted guitar parts. I think they disturb what is otherwise a very fine musical texture you've created. Chorused guitar, perhaps tremolo, would have maintained that texture without sacrificing the power I think you were after (*raucous* I believe is the word you used).

Just my immediate reaction after listening a couple of times... still, I liked this a lot. ;)

Has a real Big Country ( the Scottish band ) vibe to it....very strong melody and well played instrumentation.
Chorus has a particularily engaging melody and comes off as familiar and fresh sounding ....without the typical melody construct cliches.
I enjoyed the drums and bass, imaginative guitar playing and the singing is also very good.
All around very fluid, well written, cleverly arranged and a pleasure to listen to.

I really appreciate your comments. Love the Big Country comparison; they had some great songs - what a tragedy the death of Stuart Adamson was...I'm happy you think the chorus worked. That was the core of the song in the writing. I thought it was a bit simple, but everything I did to make it "better" just ruined it so I went with my gut! I don't know how much of this is or isn't written as a personal narrative, but it sure feels like a true story. So whether the relationship details are based on fiction or fact - it's a good piece of writing.

A catchy tune, well-played, and great lyrics, well-sung: an excellent posting!
