Nobody Knows Me (Like You Do)
by Sloparts and TurquoiseRose
This is a song Olivia wrote a while ago that we've been working on for some time, so it's really her song, I'm just posting an updated version for her.
I redid most of the background tracks and blended in some of what she already had. Then I rearranged it and Olivia came back with a new, and I think much better vocal than the original one. She also did some work on the arrangement so this is really a collaboration on all levels.
I like the way it came out and I'm betting you will too. Olivia is such a talented artist on so many levels that it's a privilege for me to work with her on these songs of hers.
Enjoy the ride

CHORUS:
No, nobody knows me like you do.
You hear my every thought - Sense my every mood
When my heart is aching - You're who I turn to
'Cause nobody knows me like you do
VERSE:
When I begin to speak - you finish what I start
Just as if you had the script in hand
It's often downright spooky - How well you know my heart
And understand who I really am - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bridge
When I think of roses they magically appear
And when I'm thinking of you suddenly you're here
When I look in the mirror I swear what I see
Is your smiling face looking back at me
CHORUS
Because nobody knows me like you do
You hear my every thought - Sense my every mood
And when my heart is aching - You're who I turn to
'Cause nobody knows me like you do
Sometimes I think you know me, you may even know me
A little better than I know myself

This is an amazing voice to listen to and she's a really good writer as well. I love working with her because she makes it so easy to do a really great song.
Thanks again Feter, alway great to see you here. Be well my friend.

Id love to listen to this on a cold lonely highway around midnight driving home and feeling good, perhaps one day I will, very cool song!

It might help me to remember how good I have it when I'm down in the dumps about something stupid or irritating going on in my life that really amounts to nothing. When you've got someone in your life like this, what's to be worried about.
Thanks for the visit Tom, glad you dropped in and found something you liked. The credit goes to Olivia for writing and singing such a great song. All I did was sit on a stool behind her on stage and pick the Guitar a little.
Thanks again for the kind words Tom. Be well my friend
Ed
fantastic vocal performance here...outstanding work.

Yeah she can really belt them out when she wants to, and she wanted to on this song of hers. All I did was stay in the background and give her the space she needed. She did the rest.
Thanks again Arend for stopping by and for the kind words. They are mush appreciated my friend.
Be well
Ed
Hi Ed
This is very nice singing and a good production.
I have a creative suggestion on this one for you. The song would be more interesting (in my opinion) if you song i.e. the Bridge: When I think ....
Just an idea because you also have a great voice to.
NB. I appreciate you gave us the opportunity to down load this one. I miss it on some of your songs with the inspirering guitar playing.
Kind Regards Claus

I'm not done yet with this song, as I've recently thought of some things to do to make it even better. But it'll be a while before I can get to it, I've got too many irons in the fire to do it now.
Having to do with the download button on my other songs, I'm not sure what to do about that. I just recently joined BMI and because my music is registered in the commercial domain I felt it needed to be protected a little. I'm not sure why it would make a difference since it hasn't been done by anyone but me, and I may change it all back to allow downloads. Mostly it the confusion in my head about how the BMI ting effect the music that made me change them to no downloads.
Still trying to figure out what to do about the whole thing.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words and the suggestion Claus, they are very much appreciated. Be well my friend

Good vocals and a nice tight backing.
She sounds a little like Maria Muldaur (spelling?) which is no bad thing :-)
Cheers

She's a very talented lady near as I can tell, and it's a pleasure to work with her. I hadn't made the Maria Muldaur connection but you may be on to something. She can be brassy, or sultry, or anywhere in between depending on the song.
Anyway, thanks again for the kind words Dick, we both appreciate the vote of confidence.
Be well my friend

with a higher range...love it....really nice voice olivia!!!....ed u have that logic spiinning around...hehhe....nice arrangement u knocked off there....that bridge section lyrics are to die for......love it.....!
p.s.: will be sending u the retooled collab section this week...i'll send you a note...

Glad you came for the show and liked what you heard. So far Olivia has been compared to Maria Muldaur, and Patsy Cline, and if you listen to "The Very Thought of You" I'm sure Ella Fitzgerald will fit in there too. She is a very dynamic singer with a lot of range. That makes it pretty easy to do good work when she's singing a song.
Most of this one was done in GB, but I've got some other stuff I'm working on in Logic that I hope to post pretty soon. Logic is a real workhorse when it comes to doing this stuff.
Thanks again for the kind words Mc, they are much appreciated. Be well my friend. Looking forward to the collab.

Ed, I love the jazz take... the brush-snare, the walking bass, the tasty organ stabs... and what a Grammy vocal by Miss Olivia. She seems to be a genuine throwback to the good ol' female greats of Nashville.
Production-wise, I am occasionally hearing a chorus-wobble-like effect on Olivia's vocal that, I think, is a bit distracting. A small and subtle nit in an otherwise enjoyable and well put together tune.
Great to be in the audience, listening and now applauding.
Cheers.

Appreciate the listen and the great comments. I've done 2 verions of this song with Olivia, this one, of course, and another that's has a Blues/Rock feel to it. That one was my first take, but Olivia wanted a more Jazz/Swing feel to the song so we went back to work on it and this is the results.
I think what you're hearing in Olivia's vocal is the Flanger I used on her vocal track. I may have used it more heavily then I wanted to, and I missed that in the final mix. After all, I am just a bit deaf and it's sometimes hard to pick out the little things.
Anyway, thanks again for the great comments and for putting you fine ear to work to let me know I need to watch it a little closer next time. It is much appreciated Jack
Be well my friend.

when a female sings nice tunes here at mj.
Going through tune after tune and finally ya get to hear a female singer and a good one as well. Plus the lyrics are nice and warm. Great pic to go with it as well.
Thanks for sharing. Hope to hear more!

You have so many sides to your sound...
cool stuff
nice vocal delivery
very fine groove and playing
a fine work of art my man
is that a stand up bass?

...one well rounded cat, Ed...and you do it all well...love this tune. Olivia's voice is to die for and the lyrics are perfect...
sloparts
Hey, that well rounded comment isn't about my weight is it. Cause if it is you're absolutely right. lol
You're also right about Olivia's voice. The girl really knows how to belt out a song. She also know how to curl you toes when you listen to her sing "The Very Thought of You"
Thanks again for the kind words Bob. I really appreciate it and so does Olivia. She needs all the encouragement she can get right now as she going through some rough times. If you're a praying man then do, if you're a giving man than do that, but above all wish her well.
Take care my friend
Ed
