Train to Rishikesh

Description
Everyone does a "train tune" at some time. This is trying to capture a train journey through India. It's mostly an improvised acoustic solo in one take. The changing moods and tempo are supposed to convey the chaos and excitement of India. Unfortunately, I’ve only ever been east as far as Great Yarmouth which is a long way short of India so I may have caught the wrong train here.

Train to Rishikesh
wow - this is really fabulous! You've got mastery of that guitar - making things I KNOW are really hard to do, sound easy to do. I like the changing tempo, the changing mood of the guitar as you move through the journey. Really great - so glad to have heard it. Thanks

Enjoyed
Like the finger-picking here, especially when it gets into the deep swoops. NIce speed up and variations on that. Plus nice recording. Those deep swoops are particularly dramatic to my ears.

Lots of nice stuff in there!

Way to go!
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Bill, I've just been watching your Utube video. I really like the intervals you were hitting there and the rythmic changes. Thanks for taking the time to listen here.

Lovely guitar
playing to a very interesting composition. I agree about the great production. The Great Yarmouth comment made me chuckle too.

What
a great interpretation of not only the train journey, but also the instrumentation. With the guitar, you've managed a very good impersonation of the Sitar in parts. You can certainly play your instrument, this is an excellent piece of music, regards M

Thanks for taking the time to listen. I was tempted to pile on some more reverb effects to bring out a more sitar like quailty but it just sounded too synthetic then.
Best Regards

Thanks :)
Thanks for the nice comments – I very much appreciate you taking the time to listen. I read to the end of your Bio and am glad I’ve been able to post something that you have enjoyed. I hope that fox doesn’t like fingers! CoriAnder is indeed a brilliant player and I’m one of his fans already (Lime Green Thoddi is superb). I’m delighted this reminds you of his playing – it means I must be doing something right!
Best wishes to you.

Excellent
Love the sound of the guitar - a great recording (and i know how hard it is to get a good acoustic sound when you record!) - and love the playing. You have a great rhythmic touch, lovely dynamics and arrangement. Great playing. Nicely done. Peace.

Very nice sounding, and
very nice playing. High tones are very nice to the wonderful deep low end lines. Great finger picking.

Hi Chance
Thank you for taking the time to listen and for your kind comment. I think this sounds more difficult to play than it really is. It uses DGDGAD tunning to get a more unusual sound going which is cheating a bit really. Having said that, it does make it playable for the most part using just 2 finger chords with some hammering on and pulling off of the notes.
Best wishes
Steve

Fantastic tone
I lived in India for some years a while back and whenever I'd be in the area, I'd always stay in Rishikesh for some time, enjoying the atmosphere of the place so much. . .

Fine music and playing - thanks !
