Keywords:
Lemming (1)Sea (36)Lover (13)
Description:
Although the mass suicide of lemmings has been largely discredited, I often though about their motivations and their prodigious pro-creative drives and how that seemed to mimic young human adults. Anyway, this poem was the result. Of course, like everything else I create, I always hear someone else performing it. In this case I though I would ask Patrick Stewart to read for me. He has not yet responded, so out comes the faithful vocal enhancer (hee-hee I am driving Drak crazy thinking I have an accent plug in for GB Sh-h-h-sh!).

Lyrics:
The Lemming
copyright 2008 Stephen M. Schedra

All my love like the frost wintered fountains
Rushing down in the spring from the mountains,
Pushes on past the pines to a lover,
To the warm misty face of the sea.

Will I love without losing to sorrow,
As today becomes lost to tomorrow?
Or will I give up the arms of a lover
For the final embrace of the sea?

Oh, to be free from the hand of devotion
In the tides ceaseless sand sweeping motion!
Pushing on past the pain of a lover
To rest secure ever more in the sea.

How many accents can you do? This was cool. I love the poetic imagery in this.

Nice Prose &mdash 03/12/08 - 08:01:00 AM
Well written and recited. The seagulls added a forlorn flavour to make one ponder the ceaselessness of time even after one's demise.

Thought provoking!

Great Scott... Engage! &mdash 03/12/08 - 11:35:39 AM
Nice orchestration (though it felt panned a bit too wide L/R in headphones)... GPO really sounds good, and you wrote a sweet bit of soft longing backdrop for the poem, perfectly placed. I noticed one major technical glitch though, but it is a common mistake. On the cool GB ACCENT-utator plug-in you are using, I think you moved the accent dial one notch too far. You went past the "Stewart" setting and chose the "Connery" setting instead. Most people make that mistake, but I can tell the difference by letting my wife listen to the accent. If it is set to STEWART, she shrugs. If it is set to CONNERY, she gets chills. (smirk) Where did you find that AU plug-in again?

Drakonis

Eduard, "They shend one of yawr g-eyesh to the hoshpital, yue shend one of th-air g-eyesh to the maw-rgh" If only I could have talked this way when I was a single barfly, sigh (lol)!
I was kind of thinking the same thing. I wonder about placing the orchestral instruments on the virtual sound stage. Any tips, like limits on the separation maybe?
Maestro you rock,
Stephen

Hey Stephen - wow, this is great. So are you really doing that accent through a plug-in, or am I falling for a drak-ism? Whatever, your spoken word is beautiful, and the music behind, wave sounds, etc. make a lovely, full environment for listening. Great work - congrats!

April Fool! &mdash 03/12/08 - 09:00:29 PM
Oh, wait its only March. There is no such plug-in as far as I know. I do, however use the vocal enhancer to give myself some baritone qualities from time to time. Drak teases me because I use it so often so when he heard Bonny Charlie he teased about the accent being the vocal enhancer.
Thanks for stopping by,
Stephen

...the poem is the coolest thing I've heard. It's quite a funny contrast to listen to this while looking at the pix of the lemming.
Where have you been. on a sabbatical to build yer chops?
