Lyrics:
A MAN WE ALL KNOW
Lyrics by©Bernardo Barreto
Music by Lupiroz

This is the story of a man we all know
He was a champion from the day he was born
He was funny, he was fast and he was loud
And no one in the world could knock him down.

He was a fighter from Kentucky USA
Soon enough he was a man of the world
He changed his name an refused to fight in a war
Against people who never did him any harm.

They called him a traitor and he lost his crown
He faced prison and almost lost his home
He lost his right to fight in the ring
So he came out on the streets to fight for a cause.

(chorus)

This is the story of a man we all know
He was so fast nobody could catch
He could dance and he could punch
The government tried to shut him down
But in those days the people were willing to fight back.

(instrumental break)

Well all the rest we all know by now
This man became a champion again
And the government eventually went down
With much shame they pulled out the troops.
(guess who won that war).

(chorus)

This is the story of a man we all know
He was so fast nobody could catch
He could dance and he could punch
The government tried to shut him down
But in those days the people were willing to fight back.

Great song for a Great man. The sixties were a time of liberation, and open mindedness.

Full sound. Cool voice. Reminds me of one of my favorite Dylan songs, Hurricane.

Good, no fantastic job.

Indeed, this song was meant to be a tribute to both Bob Dylan and Muhammed Ali. Of course Hurricane was in our minds.

great message & music &mdash 03/13/08 - 01:26:34 PM
Excellent music writing and playing here... Lupiroz & Dylan do a great jobwith the music, really super sounding work there. Barretok, you have a wonderful story-telling voice that just slithers through the well-written lyrics. My only critique is that the chorus of this song seemed a little too much like the main part, not enough variation of sound... perhaps if Dylan's backing vox were brought up so we could hear them better it would help, and if your voice was a little more evenly placed through the chorus... it tended to wander in time and made it hard for me to keep the rhythm of the song in the chorus. That's my only suggestion... otherwise, a well-told tale, and great collaboration for all of you!

Great song &mdash 03/14/08 - 06:34:37 AM
and the lyrics and whole performance are excellent. Love the way the backing music keeps it all moving along. He was all the things you say in the lyrics and with such a great personality and sense of humour. It was if he was a part of your own family with his natural friendliness, nice work, regards M

Thanks everyone. We tried to keep it similar and yet away from Hurricane, yet that song is soooooo good it was impossible for our "music composer" to keep away from it. I'm sure Mr. Bob will forgive us.
