Description:
This is a song I wrote after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since we're having a WoodstockMJ event. I thought I'd spruce it up a little in GB and load it up to see if anybody likes it.
It's sort of like the old protest songs of the sixties, but then again...
Hope you like it, but if not, let me know why and I'll try to fix it if I can
Thanks for listening and enjoy.
Ed

Sorry about that Feter &mdash 03/15/08 - 06:20:24 PM
But you are first again, that's twice in a row, thank you.
I noticed that the guitars in the break on the first version were beating each other to death in a battle for supremacy so I just killed of the offending guitar in that section. It's much easier on the ears now through the instrumental break.
Thanks again for coming to the fest Feter. Be cool man and staty well.

I really really love your music in general, and this is another winner in the book of Sloparts! Love your voice, the instrumentation and of course the lyrics/message. Perfect entry for Woodstock MJ! Congrats! [ Reply to This ]
Thank you Karen &mdash 03/15/08 - 07:26:29 PM
I'm thrilled that you enjoyed this song and some of my others. I just went and listened to Glaciers and was absolutely stunned by it. After listening to that piece of exquisite music, I'm honored by you comments here.
Thank you again for your kind words, and for taking time to listen to my songs. Be well and enjoy the ride.

I love your vocals... Strong, confident.
Cool song! No doubt! I too would have opted for a stronger driving beat. Still its really great! [ Reply to This ]

Glad you stopped by and listened to this old song of mine. It was originally recorded on a Tascam TSR8 8-track reel recorded and while it sounded pretty good on the original, it sounds much better now. The reason I mention this is to illustrate how you can use GB to take an original track and tweak it to make it sound a lot better. Another thing I did on this one was add some tracks in GB that weren't in the original to alter the character of the song and give it more energy.
Anyway, thanks for coming by and listening, and for you kind words and thoughts about improvements. Believe me when I say they are both very much appreciated.
Be well my friend

Glad you stopped in for a listen and took the time to comment. I was trying to find a bass line that would bring up the bottom end of the original recording, which sounded kind of thin. I've found it can be a daunting task to try and find a loop that works when you already have a bass line going in the original recording. This time I got lucky and found one that worked and sounded pretty good to boot.
Thanks again for the kind words Mc they are, as always, very much appreciated.

and another fine utopian dream song. Can't have too many of those a s far a sI'm concerned. Suits the festival spirit. Great production - the guitar and bass sound really good and your vocal sends the message home. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Bud &mdash 03/16/08 - 08:46:09 PM
Got to follow that dream the man said. Oh yeah, I forgot, the "Man" was one of the bad guys way back then. My how we've changed.
Glad you found something to like here, and took the time to send the kind words this way Bud. They are greatly appreciated my friend.
Be well and keep on truckin'

I wasn't able to get to the original Woodstock because I was in Alaska at the time playing in a band in Fairbanks. But if I had been there this is the kind of message I would have liked to have spread through my music.
I am very happy you came to WoodstockMJ and I had the chance to play this for you. I'm even happier that you like what I had to say.
Thanks again for listening and for you kind words.
Peace to you as well

Yes!!!! &mdash 03/18/08 - 06:40:22 AM
Great expression of the spirit of freedom and also the awareness of a world that still needs many more walls to be tore down. Wonderful vocals and great guitars! Another great entry for WoodstockMJ!

Glad you came to the festival, toked a few and chilled for a while man.
One of these days the tribes of mankind will realize the foolishness that comes from hate and greed. Since the tribes are all part of the same world, I would think that sooner or later we'll stop our petty bickering and get on with the job of making this a better place for all of us.
Until that time, we can all raise our voices in an effort to enlighten the tribes and feed the fire of love and tolerance.
Thanks again B for the kind words my friend. Peace

excellent my friend ... sounds great here .... mix wise is very cool and lyrics are excellent ... as always your voice is smooth as glass ... great tune ed!! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Davis &mdash 03/18/08 - 04:02:13 PM
Especially for the comment about the mix. I was a little concerned about that because of using the new program, Logic Express, to make it. I'm still finding my way around in Logic and it can be quite daunting at times.
Glad you like the message as well as the delivery Davis, and took time to send some kind words my way.
Peace brother

Man you put out some fine music... great bass on this one. And as usual your singing is smooth and resonant. Nice tune for the Woodstock crowd to sit back and chill on... [ Reply to This ]
Thanks Jack &mdash 03/19/08 - 04:31:55 PM
Man I really appreciate those kind words Jack. Only problem is, now I can't get my hat on any more. And also, I'm getting down to the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the songs I already have done. Pretty soon, if I don't put together some new stuff, you're gonna start hearing how bad my stuff was way back when.
Thanks again for coming to the Festival Jack, and sittin" down for a moment to listen to my offering. Chill for a while., and then maybe we can go and get a nice cold brew.
Be well my friend.

The voice was a gift from my folks, so I can't take credit for it. All I can do is try to use it wisely on songs that I think say something worthwhile.
Thanks for the kind word Mark they are appreciated my friend.

This is great Mr. Ed... I love your singing very much.
I don't know why this atmosphere took me to some concerts of Pink Floyd.. The Wall mood?
But, it's really great from the musical and vocal side. Wonderful job!
Take Care

I think maybe the title led you to Pink Floyd more than the song did my friend, but I do like the thought of anything I've done being mentioned in the same sentence as Pink Floyd.
Glad you stopped in for a listen Yeman, and also that you enjoyed the song. Thanks again for you kind words.
Be well

Thanks again Myrna &mdash 05/27/08 - 09:48:30 PM
The earlier posts are song I did in the early 1990s in my little project studio in Oregon. All of them were done on 1/2" analog tape on a Tascam TRS-8. I've since move to Arkansas and now I use my Macs to do the same thing. Only they are a better quality recording now because of the hardware and software I'm using on the Macs.
I did try to touch up a few of the old songs to give them a little better definition but there's only so much you can do with them when all you have is a demo to work from. The masters have long since died and moved on to that great tape junk yard in the sky.
I'm glad you like my music and were kind enough to send along some nice comments on it.
Thanks again for coming by and listening. Take care, be well and stay cool,
