I love &mdash 03/16/08 - 11:09:41 PM
that long intro-I thought "1" was in a different place than it ended up when the drums came in.The overlapping sounds are amazing.Another fantastic track.

'preciate it &mdash 03/17/08 - 07:15:03 AM
Don't go counting measures on me now. :)

I think every new instrument does come in on the first beat (thanks GarageBand). After the intro, the first "bell" comes in and it is a full 24 measures til the last bell in the phrase. I don't think I have ever written any "verse" with than many measures. Second verse is just 24 without the intro then the third has the intro measures as a bridge and the 24 for the twelve tolls of the bell. Odd structure but it works for this song.

Not perhaps the most pleasant subject for a song to download but I appreciate the fact you did download anyway.

good goin, bill.
another smashing sonic creation with a wonderful driving groove.
my favorite part is when the bell starts tolling at 3:15 - what a cool extended sound, fraught with a Big Message. excellent song cookery!

About the bell &mdash 03/17/08 - 03:02:54 PM
The first time the "bell" comes in it is just the single guitar chord meant to symbolize perhaps the fact that the bell is tolling for someone else but not for us or that when we are young we know it is there but it doesn't really concern us because we "know" we are immortal.

The second time I use the guitar as the bell I have doubled it and harmonized it (up 7 steps I think ... maybe an octave) to make it even more omnipresent as we get older. Glad you liked and commented on this effort.

This is incredible! I'm always so amazed by your many talents - composing, mixing. You've written this in a genre that is so over my head to even conceptualize. I love, as others have said, the sounds of the "tolling" becoming more and more insistent as we age. The instruments, sounds you've chosen and how you put them together is absolutely top notch. This is GREAT!!

You make me blush &mdash 03/17/08 - 09:50:23 PM
Thanks so much. It is just really a simple song with a universal theme, put together by an ordinary guy. I'm always pleased when folks like my stuff as much as I do, 'cause I really make it up to please myself first and foremost.

For Whom The Bell Tolls. &mdash 03/18/08 - 09:18:02 AM

Hi this was very thought provoking and moving,
makes me personally think about old age and that we should live each day as it comes and we should all try to live in peace and harmony
For we all only have one chance in life. Then the bell tolls for us all
no matter what creed or colour we all our.

I also like to make music that I like to listen to formost,
that is what keeps me happy and its a great feeling when others like it too. I get a real buzz. Thanks for sharing.
Peace Dee.
