Right then .... this is our contribution to Feter's "MJ Woodstock" Project. This was a total blast brother!
Thanks friend!
Gail & Jack
1 a.m. in the morning on the first day at MJ Woodstock, two very nervous Texas musicians were taking the stage to buy time for the next act to set up. The song they picked to perform would be released as an electric studio track after the festival. The "electric" version would be the un-doing of this "duo".
This acoustical version was recorded live and is the only copy still available. It appears it has basically been unedited due to the extra long run of leader tape at the end.
Gail would develop into a stunning solo performer and davisamerica would strive to maintain their trademark "Clippy Art" rock.
Much thanks to Feter McBlues for providing additional artist support.
Production Note: An interesting thing this one. Gail's vocal and piano as well as the other vocals were lifted from an entirely different version of this tune. Quiet a bit of a different version... think drums, electric guitar .... ! Imagine my surprise and joy to find this inside of all that!
Gail was a great joy to work with. She just has such a great ability to play and adapt to anything.
Am I a fan..??
.... oh yeah!
6/04/08 UPDATE ...
The electronic version of this tune is released as a collaboration with Mystified.

Mist ...... http://www.macjams.com/song/42730
Lyrics:
i have come to the sea
to search the mist
and look for thee
in the morning light
i will pray
for this longing silence
to slip away
if a cold wind lies
and says i am gone
says there is no one there
will you walk on by
will you hear the truth
and search your heart
as the night bird flies
will you find me there .... in the mist
will you still
remember me
when the mist
obscures the sea
will your heart
still look my way
when every green
has turned to grey
if a cold wind lies ........
i have come
to the sea
to search the mist
and call
for thee
i will wait
a hundred years
and search the mist
till all is clear
if a cold wind lies .....

This is BEAUTIFUL! OMG - this might be one of my all time faves. Today is my birthday, and this is such a wonderful birthday sound-present, so thank you especially for that! You guys are great together, the vocals are awesomely kind of echo-y, the piano is elegantly simple, just perfect for this mix. This should be an international hit. I love the audience coming in and out throughout. Your voices together are exquisite - they blend about as well as two voices can. Really, have I gushed enough for you? This is absolutely FABULOUS! Congratulations on this collab you two!
davisamerica
and i am grinning.... you like it! I did too.
Here's the funny thing about this, Gail is actually singing against a totally different sound bed than you hear. The piano was recorded to go with an electric piece we are working on .... but this just fit amazingly well and a totally different thing was born. so we contributed it to Feter's Project { MJ Woodstock] hence the applause .... whew...
so there it is and there you are ..... and thanks so much!
Happy Birthday Karen!!

How sweet to have a collaboration like this! Great song, wonderful piano playing (that you Gail?) and really excellent singing both of you. Really fun and perfect crowd ambience. And I listened to the tail of silence at the end of your MP3 for the secret whispered message, but couldn't quite make it out... something like "there is no dark side of Macjams really..." but then the reel-to-reel tape leader broke. The stadium echo was a nice touch. Excellent work, and a gorgeous song.
ttfn,

a little Joni Mitchell influenced here. You know they might be packing up,
but I see........smoke from the small campfires hovering low too the ground, with many sitting wrapped in their blankets and swaying too this beautiful song. I guarantee this would be the one everyone would be talking about the next day. Great job davis and gail your voice is just wonderful as always.
thanks

.. a kinda cross between "songbird" by Fleetwood Mac and "when a child is born" (Johnny Mathis) in vibe..a kinda spiritual/inspirational touch to this.
Excellent performances all round...what an interlude! .. and I agree, your voices do really work well together.
Well done Gail & Jack - if my winter woolly hat hadn't got nicked .. it would be off :o)
davisamerica
have discovered how to get past your ever accurate "nit" observations .... just have gail put you in a dreamy trance and slowly leave the room...lol .. and BTW i cherish your valuable "nits" ... do indeed! anyroad as previously discussed this "tune" was a surprise. you will see what i mean in a few weeks after the festival dust has settled. and alan ... man u r always a pleasure to hear from ... very much appreciated here!

This song was nothing short of a beautiful musical and poetic experience. I was enraptured! I doubt anything could have disrupted this dream short of of a sledge hammer to my cranium. I'll listen again and again. I've enjoyed both of you individually, but somehow together I get triple the treat. Go figure. Got more?
davisamerica
i always miss you here on site ..... she is a killer to work with... hope to have something from john on current project soon.... really looking forward to that .... so will call in a bit and check in ... later brother and thanks for the listen
gail60
I do not mean to step in on Jack's comment territory here....Wait! No nevermind...I did too! :)
I just wanted to say my own thank you to all the wonderful supportive comments we have received on this song. If you only knew what music Jack sent to me to record my part with, it would blow your mind. It blows mine. This song here is not what I heard at all. He says the other version will come soon. Wow! He is so talented and I was honored that he asked me to work with him on this song.
I am very thankful and humbled by all of your gracious compliments and just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you all! MacJams is a nice place to be.
Norman Goodman

As inspirational as one of Joni Mitchell's tunes on the live "Miles of Aisles" album, capturing that live feeling and the crowd feedback which helped create the magic moments.
What a duo from whom we will definitely expect more from in the future.
Great collab folks.
davisamerica

Just me rummaging around in the cellar kicking up dust off these old and amazing tracks.
The story behind this tune for me was that I had written Mediocrity and had sent a very rough guitar version to Gail (on your recommendation). I was not proud of what I had done and after hearing this masterpiece between you two I felt I was so out of my league that I came so close to emailing Gail and asking her to just forget working on Mediocrity and I'd try again later (when I was MUCH better).
I didn't send that email and Gail sent me back a home run. I couldn't touch the thing and posted it as it was. She is simply amazing as are you Jack.
