The pic is my Senior Year High School photo.
I was 13 and living in Mexico City when Woodstock happened, and played rhythm guitar in a band that spent most of its four-year life as "The Solid Waste." I always dreamed of doing a fest like it but it was not to be . . . until now. Thanks Feter.
Woodstock was typically American in its unbounded enthusiastic naiveté. It was a tragi-comic event of great music and youthful idealism mixed with booze, drugs and oh, so many tons of trash. Green it was not. We thought we could change the world, but we couldn't even change ourselves, and the violence at the hand of the Hell's Angels during the Rolling Stones performance at Altamont a scant 6 months later was witness to that. Those two festivals stand at each end of a parable of misplaced idealism and innocence lost. And the generation that protested its fathers' wars is now propagating many of their own.
So enjoy the music, but cry for the hearts it can never change. For that change, we must look Elsewhere.

Lyrics:
Summer of love, flowers in her hair,We didn't even mind the mud.
“Cause Jimmy’s magic fingers spillin’ music everywhere,
And the wine and love were flowin’ like a flood.
But where have all the flowers gone?
How dare we ever forget.
‘Cause we’re sitting here singin’ but the wars they still go on.
We haven’t grown up yet.
But it’s all right now. Someone said it was a gas.
Yes it’s all right now.
Jumpin’ Jack Flash got a pass, pass, pass.
As he sat there stoned on the Woodstock grass.
Summer of love and the music is fine,
We’re sharin’ kisses in the rain.
And it feels so groovy it’s just blowin’ my mind,
But when we leave here there will still be all the pain.
So where have all the flower children gone?
Must the colors turn to gray?
Long time passing and the sorrow still goes on.
Lord, help us seize the day!
'Cause It ain’t all right now. Though someone said it was a gas.
No, It ain’t it’s all right now.
‘Cause Jumpin’ Jack Flash blew his pass, pass, pass.
As he sat there stoned on the Woodstock grass.
Well it’s good night now. I think we’ve run outa gas.
Did we lose our sight now,
‘Cause Jumpin’ Jack Flash lost his pass pass pass,
As the Angels from Hell did their work on the Altamont Grass

Thanks for opening the gates to Yasgur's farm again. Glad to be a part. Peace.
Sir Bass
I the sound of the guitar on this.
ValleyPastor
Assuming the word missing between "i" and "the guitar" in your post was supposed to be "like" or "love," I'm glad it tickled your ears.
davisamerica
hear you and 2 hats off!!!
ValleyPastor
Two hats off. Does that mean you have two heads. I hear two heads are better than one.
But then I remember Zaphod Beeblebrox in "Hitchhiker Guide" and I wonder.
The answer to life, the universe and everything is "42"
Thanks for the listen
Nice imagery you bring with this, Summers of yesteryear, so much richer
good stuff
ValleyPastor
For me they were good summers. I'm looking forward to the next one.
I'm glad you enjoyed

really love all the paraphrasing and twists of meaning -
very insightful and clever to boot. Great playing and singing too. You just raised the bar here at the festival. I love the name of your old band "The Solid Waste" - too much.

Ou drummer's mom worked for a sanitation company. She came up with the name. lol It would have been a good name for a punk band, but punk was still in the future.
I had fun with this song. It all came spontaneously in about an hour on Saturday, after Feter opened the fest.

How good sir did you do this? The instrumentation sounds recorded in real time. Did you do all that? Even more amazing you captured the vibe of the era. The little funky wah guitar and the mellow rhodes compin in the background. The vocals were outstanding. Makes me want to break out my tie die.
ValleyPastor
All instrumentation but the wah guitars, acoustic rhythm guitar, and vocals, was provided by Band-in-a-box. That's a wonderful, versatile program that I've used to make great beds for my guitar.
I'm so blessed you enjoyed the song

Made me go back and rethink a lot of things Pastor, but I guess that was the intent. An you do a wonderful job of capturing the feeling and sound of that time so long ago.
Kudos my friend for making me think again.
Ed
ValleyPastor
Yes, that was the intent. But also just to write a fun song. I'm glad you both thought and enjoyed

Thoughtful and clever interpretation of the well-intentioned, but often unrealistic *Love Generation.*
Just another cultural episode we can file under *Paradise Lost.*
Really nice job on capturing the feel, ambience and vibe of the period and well-performed and produced. ;)

Yes, paradise lost. We keep losing it, don't we? But I believe it WILL someday be regained. But it won't be OUR doing.
Glad you enjoyed.
so cool.... love the crowd. And you pull off such a sublime, funky performance. Wah is wahnderful and the vox harmonies sound perfect singing these nostalgic lyrics... Cool one VP.... peace, brother.

It's a lot of fun to follow the different entries.
This one is beautiful, (though maybe a bit too soft and nice for Woodstock). But it sure has wahwah so why not. I like your song a lot anyway.
As much as I like your music I like your presentation. You give a deep perspective that give me a better view of time. And yes yes; for a real change, we must look Elsewhere. That took me so many years to discover.

You sure captured the the 60's feel here, and how the "music died."
Really like the vocals and guitar. Cool crowd sounds and fx, too. :-)
ValleyPastor
Now you need to do the Joan Baez type song for the Woodstock MJ
