Description:
Our contribution to the MJ Woodstock festival. I probably don't need to say much about this because it's more an experiential thing. Skin up and freak out. :)
Since neither of us will get on a plane we weren't able to attend Woodstock in person (and the fact that I was only 7 months old at the time didn't help). So we astrally projected onto the stage during a particularly vivid acid trip. Those who were there may or may not remember seeing this shadowy and enigmatic British band in the line-up, half human, half animal ...
Dick played all the instruments and also did most of the songwriting, with some lyric contributions from me.
Vocals are a four-way collab between me, Dick, Chiana (my cat) and Django (Dick's dog).

amazing "pattern in the sky" were you guys! i knew it was too beautiful to be induced by bad ovaltine .... nice one here folks ... and now i feel so much better ... sometimes it all turns out ... peace ... off to feter's tent!
Rebsie
The Ovaltine is OK but steer clear of the Horlicks.
Thanks for being firsties, we always appreciate your enthusiasm and support.
michael2
i'm really liking this. it actually kind of reminds me of Robyn Hitchcock or Julian Cope/Teardop Explodes. very cool song.
Rebsie
Glad you like it Michael. We had a lot of fun working on it. :)
SJB
Just like going back to the late 60s. Great song guys.
Rebsie
Very glad it took you somewhere, thank you.
MarkHolbrook
really good when I saw "Rebsie" as the poster... Always good stuff thus comes!!!
Sweet... Won't get on airplanes huh? Hum... spent most of my younger years in the air as a pilot. Let's see, close to 12,000 logged hours... more if I count the airline logs.
MarkHolbrook
I can't hear the cat meow or the dog bark! Maybe I just missed it! :-)
When I was recording a few years ago I was trying to do a vocal track and really working my voice and all of a sudden my cat sitting right behind me goes: MEEEEEOOOOOOWWWWW! I left it in the track just for fun.
I'll have to search for that song... Probably have it on tape somewhere!
DWL
and the cat jumps in at 1:59 or thereabouts.
Post your cat song. Maybe we can do a another festival, we could call it ..............................................................................
Pet Sounds..
I'll get me coat, thanks for listening and I'm pleased you enjoyed it :-)
Cheers

DWL
so it's great when others hear it like that!
Thanks
Cheers
Dick
I have been humming the tune since listening to it. It's really a smile-maker of a song... very in keeping with the idealistic times surrounding the sixties.
Jack
Rebsie
Thanks Jack. It made us smile, so we hoped it would have that effect on others too. Not that I remember much about the 60s ... *cough*
dlb
Colourful song, very trippy! I like this, it's very good. That's some crazy guitar in there too! ;-)
Rebsie
Glad you like it Dave, colourful and trippy is what we were aiming for.
Epileptic Gibbon
A baby sitar.
Anyway, moving on... this is a very groovy piece of neo-psychedelia which ticks all the right boxes.
And as for Rebsie's spoken word bit at the end: I do love a woman in unicorn.
Rebsie
Congratulations, you've won the Cheesiest Pun prize for this songpage. A box of ticks is on its way to you.

My mother-in-law used to do light shows for bands that traveled through Seattle in the 60's and I kept picturing what she'd do with this song, which means, I guess that you guys really captured the vibe o' the times. The transitions from the solo voices into the melted, melded univoice are just really cool. I'm listening on monitors and it's really groovy sounding. I'm looking forward to feeling those voices travel through my head when I put on headphones.
Killer guitar solo and tremolo RULZ!!!
Rebsie
If we ever find ourselves touring in Seattle (after they've invented aeroplaneless transatlantic travel) we'll be sure to book your mother-in-law for a special commission so you get to see the real thing.
Always delighted to get comments from you Lisa, your friendship and support mean a lot. :)
Feter
Wooooot dats wonderfuly danny and frip mysterious

power all around .what contribution to the fest and

at his height with the guitar ...man ..Fat out !!!
Rebsie
Thank you so much for organising and inspiring it, Feter. Your love and enthusiasm for the music is what started this whole thing off.
ValleyPastor
I was hoping you'd join the Festival, but I expected you in the folky part. This was a nice treat. Thanks for sharing.
Rebsie
It's good of you to drop by, thank you. I've tended to stick within the folky genre because my limited instrumental skills didn't allow much else, but now I've got Dick's amazing range of musical skills to draw on I'm able to explore my wild side. :)
sloparts
But this has a character all it's own. Love what you two have done here. Definitely takes me places I wasn't ready to go, again.
Thanks Dick and Rebsie for a really great trip.

DWL
I probably wouldn't want to go there either :-)
This is really a distillation of the sounds I heard growing up in the 60s before the drugs kicked in.

A lot of fun - great vocals, and lovely sounds running throughout. I love the intro, and the drums and bass give it a nice groove. I especially like the freakout it becomes. Very cool. Enjoyed that journey. Peace.
