Description:
Although I wasn't even born at the time, I can really dig the spirit.
I tried to make this sound raunchy and live. And of course, flawed.
Have fun listening.

Lyrics:
Plastic SoldiersJust like plastic soldiers
Marching in parades
You can hear them laughing
Sitting in the shade
You gotta’ wonder
Everyday
They are taking over
Like termites often do
Can you tell the difference?
From their lies and truths
You gotta’ wonder
Everyday
They are making moonshine
On a holiday
They are taking orders
None of them will say
Everyday
Sometimes seems so empty
Sometimes it is full
When the beast is howling
We don’t know the rule
You gotta’ wonder
Everyday
Things are almost over
Reaching for the sky
Remember those who are ready, willing and able to die
You gotta’ wonder
Everyday
They are making moonshine
On a holiday
They are taking orders
None of them will say everyday

man i love the live feel that you got in this song especially with the vocals good production job. how did ya get the crowd in the back? I have something like that on garageband.
lavalamp
Just used what was available on GB. I think they have enough, but maybe they could use a few more, just to be more diverse.
Glad you liked it.

Regarding the crowd. I would never normally do that, but you understand. Glad you dug it.

is alive and well and living in a lavalamp's head. Very much in the shadow of the times for Woodstock. Like what you done here. The live feel works, and it sounds just about right for what was going on in the world then. Come to think of it, now too.
Great job, love it

Thanks for the good words. Trying for something a little political, if you know what I mean?
Hear from you later.

very cool Dave. This was another sentiment as resentment was at it's height over the Vietnam war.
vocals ripping and the tremolo solo very appropriate
lavalamp
It's not really my thing, but I can get pissed, too. This was not really about Nam, you know?
Thanks for rockin' out brother.

I wanted to do a Country Joe tune but couldn't summon the proper energy - you managed to whip up a storm here. Very cool.
lavalamp
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn. Next stop's Afghanistan.
Mcboy
mick......wadda ya doin at woodstock...hehhehhe.....love the jaggerish vocals...so real....!
lavalamp
Thanks for the comparison to Mick. It never gets old. One day I should listen to Stones.lol

Way to use the Woodstock opportunity to say something relevant about America today. Things never change, do they?
I really hear what McBoy's saying about you sounding like Mick Jagger, here. Geez, you really do...and you don't listen to them? Too bad you can't get in a time machine and release an album before the Stones then you could accuse Mick of sounding like you.
This is a killer song and I'd actually dig hearing a 'studio' version of it as well, because I think it could be cool to hear what you'd do with. Although, I seriously dig that crowd. Too bad we can't pack our own audiences with us in the real world!
I love the "reaching for the sky-eye" and you go for the high note. Nice moment of the lyrics meshing with the melody.
lavalamp
I mean, when I hear a Stones song somewhere, I don't turn it off. I dig that late 60's and especially, the early 70's stuff, but, for some reason, I have never owned one of their albums. Go figure. I like tons of their songs, anyway.
Yeah. the songs about wasted lives and 10 billion dollars a day.
To do a studio version, I'd have to do it from scratch because I purposely did it sloppily to get that 5 beer/ 2 joint Woodstockian sound.
Thanks for stopping by Lisa

track. soo ggod. love the vibe, the crowd noise, the lyrics, the vox (and that leap to falsetto). i guess i can hear some mick in you, but really for me, you have a classic garage rock voice. i think thaht those guys touring as the yardbirds right now, should hire you to sing for them. would love to hear you on smokesatck lightning.
great job.
lavalamp
was my long lost uncle? I sing by default. I'm the only here, but I try. Only sang backup back in the day.
I originally just wanted to post "songs" here, but you guys have forced me to step it up in the singing department.
Thanks.

and great job of creating and sustaining a vibe. The crowd noises work very well, but more to the point, the song is great. This is a terrific vocal. You knock this one out of the park. I feel like I'm there...or somewhere! Very nicely done. Cool. Peace.
lavalamp
Made my day. Thanks for the great comments. I'm always happy when you pay me a visit.

Nice going Lava. This sounds pretty much like a live version to me except for the fade out at the end.
Nice lead at the end. Could use a bridge or middle eight section.
The melody, especially in the verse, is strong.
Killer my friend... Really killer.
Very live feel, very great work from all the sides. Enjoyed every second. WoodstockMJ was a very bright idea and your song can show that! KUDOS!
Take Care
