Description:
Love song.
Lyrics:
Darlin Don't Ya Fade
If I could run
The distance in between
Here and There
Then I would give all my love to you...
But the road is long
And we don't have much time
The world is spinning out of control...darling don't you fade.. away...
Ali don't you want to come out to play?
Ali are you going to stay at home today?
In the games of men to conquer every shore
To live a 100 years or more....
I only wish to win your heart
When the battle cries
On the killing fields of war
You are a red red rose and I bleed for your your freedom
Above - the storm
Ali don't you want to come out to play?
Ali are you going to stay at home today?
Ali don't you want to come out to play?
Ali dont you know the sun shines today?
If I would run
The distance in between
Here and There
Then I would give all my love to you...
But the road is long
And we don't have much time
The world is spinning out of control...darling don't you fade.. away...
Ali don't you want to come out to play?
Ali are you going to stay at home today?
Ali don't you want to come out to play?
Ali dont you know the sun shines today?

Excellent return &mdash 03/23/08 - 07:54:39 AM
I realy like this. The vocals are wonderfully creamy and then you throw that middle 8 in. Suddenly it takes a different direction then slips back effortlessly into the melody.
Keyboards are brilliant.
Nice one :-)
Cheers

I really love your voice! This song is so pleasant to listen to and the harmonies were great! Serious Rich, this is the kind of tune that will stick in my head cause it is so easy to like and get attached to it. You did an awesome job throughout! Thanks for sharing it. [ Reply to This ]

The spring is in the air so we need love songs... And you have the voice and the song who really make that spring/love feeling inside me... Bravo [ Reply to This ]

really nice &mdash 03/23/08 - 11:27:44 AM
I always love your songs, and this one has got a sort of cool Flaming lips' feel to it. Some of the many finger squeaks on the acoustic guitar are a little painful on my ear, but other than that, this sounds just about perfect. What a great hook! [ Reply to This ]
.. &mdash 03/23/08 - 11:36:59 AM
thanks jim - do you have any tips how to stop those fingersqueaks? I'm no guitar player so is there any way of stopping it? - last time I just put vegetable oil on the strings - probably not a good idea, but it seemed to work.. [ Reply to This ]
Vegetable oil! &mdash 03/23/08 - 12:55:57 PM
I wouldn't recommend oiling the strings, but if that works for you... As to what I would do to prevent them, I don't think there's any special thing. Just don't do it. Lift up your fingers when changing positions, don't drag them. Mute the strings a bit with your right hand. Other than that I would probably go into the guitar track and laboriously mute or somehow quieten the area between the guitar chords where the squeaks appear. Using some EQ might help, but it might also deaden the guitar sound which is really nice here. [ Reply to This ]
.. &mdash 03/23/08 - 01:00:40 PM
thanks for the advice jim - I guess a combination of lifting your hand up and muting the strings is probably the best idea. Its weird tho - some guitars just seem noisier than others..unless its something to do with steel/nylon strings, perhaps.I'll experiment - Cheers - Rich [ Reply to This ]
Lovely &mdash 03/23/08 - 01:27:29 PM
in all ways. Love the quality in your voice and this arrangement is fantastic on this great song. Great mix of backing instruments and that touch on the organ is excellent. Your vocals are really something here and it's good to see that you're back with us., Cheers M [ Reply to This ]

Many thanks Maurice - I know you call yourself moviz and I have a terrible memory for names but I always remember yours cos Albert Finney once played an excellent character by the same name in Kingsley Amis's 'Green Man' - just a bit of trvia there.Glad you enjoyed it - Rich [ Reply to This ]
A great song.... &mdash 03/23/08 - 03:13:23 PM
This song is great Richard.
The backing and the chorus were especially good to me. I was whistling the tune whilst driving over to my parents house, so I guess it passed the Old Grey Whistle Test in my part of the world.
Take care.

Thanks Paul - haven't been around much, will have to check out what your up to too - you are such a prolific artist youve probably doubled your tracks by now! The ambient chords are that crystal synth again - so glad it works in os 9.hahaha - the old grey whistle test - yes I'll probably qualify for that soon - as I shave my head I have absolutely no idea what colour it would grow back to these days.Cheers - Rich [ Reply to This ]
Vocal &mdash 03/23/08 - 06:08:05 PM
Your vocal style here reminds me of later Moody Blues. Real classy arrangement to back up the vocals. E Piano is just perfect!
Thanks

What a terrific song &mdash 03/24/08 - 04:06:55 PM
And a little organ thrown in too :o) Seriously, I like the way this moves and develops, the vocals and harmonies are very effective and the synth sustains set things off perfectly. I enjoyed this very much. Lovely.

Nice song, for starters.... &mdash 03/24/08 - 06:40:02 PM
...so just about any way you brought it to life was prob'ly going to be pretty much okay...
I like the acoustic guitar playing on this, and once again the clean keyboards. I like the rhythm guitar bits that sometimes turn to fingerpicking... or what sounds like it...
Really nice vocals, too...

stellar &mdash 03/26/08 - 12:18:29 AM
lush lovey and dovey. I dig it. The keys are killer. The pads are pillows that I nestle into on a rainy day like a cat on a warm lap and think of Ali. D/L and iPhoned on repeat....

So great to hear ya &mdash 03/28/08 - 04:15:47 AM
So great to hear ya again! .. (been a while).
Again your'e here with a complete top class composition.
I can't do more than download and try to give it some fair rating (someone obviously felt this was a 5 so, by doubling that I hope give it a push in the right direction).
I sit here and enjoying the song again and again and again.
Made my morning. Soul medicine. One of the best on the site .. (well you have some of your earlier productions in that category too)..

Nice ride &mdash 03/28/08 - 05:24:49 PM
What a complex, intricate array of interweaving scapes. Intriguing composition. One that I could hear for quite a few listens while looking to discover how each one was different from the last. To me, true art is the type that never stops unfolding itself but only to reveal, as many different shades as one has the ability to visit...
Great stuff, Richard! Thanks

Blow's me away &mdash 04/04/08 - 07:17:09 AM
This is an awesome tune, beautifully sung. You falsetto is tone-errific, and the inflections are so melancholy it suits the theme of the lyrics to a tee.
Ali was the perfect name for the flow of the song, wouldn't have worked as well with another name. It just rolls of your tongue the way it's supposed to.
Great performances as usual. Good driving guitar with a sense of urgency and the usual kick-ass keyboarding.
What is that sound bookending this? SOunds like a muted cowbell on a flange. Whatever it is, it's perfect.
This is top notch. [ Reply to This ]

Quality song Ricky, love the organ solo toward the end, overall it has a folk/R&B feel that's kinda your own sound. Anyway well done and I'm off to put veggie oil on my guitar strings - just for the hell of it. [ Reply to This ]
