Description
Another fortuitous collab with two of my music buddies from across the pond. This song had a hard time finding a home, but I feel very lucky to have enlisted the talents of Nadie and James to make this tune what it is. A song with a story, and a happy ending -- how it is for the one staying home to see their loved one go off to war.
Vocals/Lyrics: Nadie Keating
Drums (with a new drum kit!): James Moore

Lyrics
He lays her down
He promises he won't be too long
She starts to frown
She doesn't know if her soldier will come home
His ship, it leaves
Taking away her heart and her soul
So she will wonder
So she will say
Is it too much to want
that he'll be home on New Year's Day
The bed is cold
She rolls over on his side
She thinks of him
Dying there by the roadside
Too far away
To even wish him goodnight
Is it any wonder
What do I say?
I'm just hoping that he'll return on New Year's Day
Is it any wonder
What can i say?
I'm just praying that he'll be home on New Year's Day
It's early morn
She hears the knocking at her door
A new fear is born
Could it be the man in uniform?
To her surprise
He's standing there, before her eyes
No more wonder
Nothing to say
I can't believe my baby's home for New Year's Day
No more wonder
Nothing to say
I can't believe you're in my arms for New Year's Day
He promises he won't be too long
She starts to frown
She doesn't know if her soldier will come home
His ship, it leaves
Taking away her heart and her soul
So she will wonder
So she will say

This is a simply gorgeous song!
Deep, meaningful, the production is immaculate!
It brings a current issue into your mind and smacks you with it. Very moving!
Thanks!
