Description:
Well, it has taken me three years, but i finally took the time to learn to create simple drum tracks. It was quite a shock to find out how much easier it became to record multiple guitars, having a steady rythm. This is probably the most produced track i ever created, i owe garageband a lot of credit for that. It is very simple to create ok mixes. I have also discovered what wonders a bag of silica gel can do to a microphone I thought had seen better days!

Lyrics:
You were only talking about the evil that you've seen
I tried to think of all the good times that have been
All the good times and its heavy weight

So think about those that have done you good
It might be hard because you never understood
That their intentions came straight from the heart

When you lie down
Thinking of a future
A future that is carrying your weight
Then You calm down
But never really resting
You like the sleepless nights because of its pain.

You should have been with the ones who could lift you up
Instead you got strung out, just like an empty cup
Its An emptiness you cant define/find

I wish you could have seen, the abilities you've got
The things you do thats great Are so easily forgot
Pushed away by all the darker thoughts

When you lie down
Thinking of a future
A future that is carrying your weight
Then You calm down
But never really resting
You like the sleepless nights because of its pain.

Is it possible to disappoint yourself, in a better way then you do?

Is it possible to disappoint yourself, in a better way then you do?

When you lie down
Thinking of a future
A future that is carrying your weight
Then You calm down
But never really resting
You like the sleepless nights because of its pain.

You just lie down,
Thinking of the people
The people that have always shaped your fate

A huge step up... &mdash 03/26/08 - 07:33:08 AM
You've always been a solid songwriter, Magnus, and a great vocalist, but this takes you a huge jump forward as regards recording...

The spread guitars, the drum track, and the clear vocals are all terrific...

I love that little fiddle line in the right channel, however you did it... I love the clarity and sparkle in the acoustic guitars, too...

I'm with paddler that there's something a little off at the beginning of the drums, but as he notes, it doesn't last... Now that you're able to easily do drums, you'll find your ability to play with and against them to naturally develop...

Maybe your best yet, Magnus...

Ed

very nice &mdash 03/27/08 - 07:46:32 AM
definitely well produced sounds pro. a steady beat can do wonders to guitar. the few times ive played with a drummer was like heaven. this song is very mellow. i like it your voice is probably the best i've heard it doesn't sound strained at all. so now that you're recordings are awsome when come the music videos? we need to get you famous.

Great guitars &mdash 03/27/08 - 08:19:57 AM
Great song. Would like to hear it with a more whispery vocals. Love the chorus. You are a really, really good songwriter.
I can hear the Elliott Smith influence, too. I loved that guy.
I will come back for more.
Great song indeed.

I really like the rhythm guitar sound here. Reminds me of why I love the sound of an acoustic guitar! Your vocals are also superb! This is just another really cool Selters song. Way to go Magnus!

Hi selters
These lyrics could have been written and sang for me until I found that I could create music about 7 months ago. Now its all good. I should say try to create my own music lol

Beautifully sung. very thought provoking, emotional and very moving.
Sometime depression cannot be overcome so easily. But you caught the mood just right. Well done.
Peace Dee .

Very good song &mdash 03/28/08 - 03:47:21 PM
and nice recording. The guitars sound great, and those drums work very well, I think. Your voice sounds terrific on this too - great expressive singing. Like the lyrics, too. This is excellent stuff. Nicely done. Peace.

Bass?? &mdash 03/30/08 - 07:59:23 AM
This is something I could add bass too. A strong melody. Drums fit nice.
I like the Bias mastering. Just a very well done song.....

Clear and clean &mdash 04/01/08 - 05:51:39 PM
Very nice song Magnus and the recording is also great. The timing on the snare at the start does need a bit of tidying up, but it is forgotten as the song progresses.
The guitar in the left hand channel is particularly sweetly recorded. Vocals are as endearing as ever.

Great post.
Neil

Great &mdash 04/02/08 - 11:56:51 AM
Excellent job. Guitars sound great and vocal is spot on for the song. The violin sounds very realistic is it sythesised or a loop?
I must check out your other posts.
Thanks
Steve

The rockstar, not the beer... &mdash 04/06/08 - 01:21:11 AM
Hey Magnus... glad to have seen you at the chat once again.. like the good old days. Your songs are a familiar sound to my ears, so I did miss your absence around here (although I myself haven't been here that much lately). You seem to be a more regular presence here again, and based on the responses here, seems like I'm not the only one who is glad to hearing your music once again.

Your guitar sounds are really crisp and your voice and lyrics lain over them make quite a potent combination of folk/alternative/pop sounds.

Your CD is still in regular rotation among the CD's in my car by the way. Son, you have to give me your second CD once it is completed.

Very beautiful poetry, singing, sound, and overall song! It sounds very original to me. Very pretty, moving. I like the "When you lie down..." chorus--it definitely hits home with me.
