Description:
This is the second of two tunes with a 'robotic' theme. I completed them both at the same time but held back with this one for some obscure reason.

The first one was imaginary robots and a production line, called 'The Dance of the Robots'. This is more of a robot march or long stroll.

The make up of the piece is just soft synths and energyXT2, put together with Reaper 2 and a few 'classical effect free plugins'.

very atmospheric - it quite scares me actually - it would be a great soundtrack to a film like resident evil.Great distonation and creativity - Richard

I agree with you. This sort of atmospheric sound does have a touch of menace about it. From one point of view I think that it sounds almost militaristic or 'something is coming - beware'.

It's really just a programming knock-about, like the Robot Dance I put together at the same time. (The VSTi used was Helix, a free synth).

The film soundtrack bit you mentioned could also be applicable, but I tend to do more Ambient washes specific to film backing. It's probably just a phase I'm going through.

Take care.

Paul

more robots? &mdash 03/28/08 - 03:15:42 PM
cool. you have really been stretching out lately. this is different than your usual stuff, but yet it all fits in together as a body of work. you usually work in the genre that you created for yourself, so it all has your stamp on it and fits together. i love the repetition in this piece over the tense background. it gets scarier the longer you listen to it. excellent, now we just need to make a name for your genre.

Hi Michael...... &mdash 03/30/08 - 04:10:27 AM
I think that I am forging a new genre of music called 'music', and that is because when you add all my uploads together, the main thing that stands out is that it could very loosely be classed as 'a few attempts at making music' or 'he never gave up trying to mix weird stuff and make it sound normal' or 'if only he could sing'.

I have fun mixing and melding disparate sounds and trying to make something of them. I almost never have any idea before I come up with something. Only afterwards does something, sometimes fit together in a coherent way.

I also have many normal pieces of music from over 30 years of composing that just need me to get my finger out and start playing the keys, instead of just talking/writing about doing it.

This piece was one of two that just fitted together from the sounds I was obtaining from a free synth, Audjoo Helix.

Expect other and different things over the next few months, interspersed with other, more (ab)normal SOHN stuff.

Take care.

Paul
