mojomusic &mdash 03/28/08 - 08:05:27 PM
bill - you make some powerful mojo with your music.
i thought the conclusion was coming at 3/4 thru - cuz except for that beautiful waterfall of guitar at the end, it feels whole and satisfyingly complete to me at that point.
i love the cool downward guitar slithers. drums a plenty! excellent showcase of pounding. this is positively bursting with energy - you are never ever lacking in that department. i like your sound,
anne

This is just what the Doctor didn't order &mdash 03/28/08 - 09:00:28 PM
Killer track, in all the ways that can be meant. I think it's safe to say the Announcer has the last word here in this conversation about who's gonna be leaving MacJams City alone forever.
Outstanding track announcer

You brought some serious weaponry to the cause &mdash 03/28/08 - 09:23:20 PM
I'd say the good Dr. is gonna be set straight with this barrage. Pretty awesome track you've concocted. I love these challenges - they always bring out the compulsive in the obsessives. We're all here - cause we're not all there. [ Reply to This ]
Ya' they are big guns &mdash 03/29/08 - 09:22:59 AM
I figured the loop needed some big guns to put it out of its misery. LOL [ Reply to This ]

Great job. &mdash 03/29/08 - 12:33:27 AM
And I was trapped without my umbrella!
Sadly, my amp is one of those that works in reverse, so I am listening to it at "Infinity and Beyond!" [ Reply to This ]

I'm in worse shape than you, I was trapped without my rubbers!

Bottoms Up! &mdash 03/29/08 - 01:42:55 AM
Nice mix! I love the phat drums and distorted bass. Slippery guitar work! Yikes... there's loads of percussion programming in here! Really cool grungy-progrock character to this piece. Excellent! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks, Brian &mdash 03/29/08 - 09:39:19 AM
Really not that much programming in the drums. Just clicked a whole bunch of new notes randomly into the midi loop and then took out all that didn't sound good! :) [ Reply to This ]
: ) &mdash 03/29/08 - 02:37:16 AM
Kool bass line . I really want to destroy this loop forever The Dr . really picked a good one ...I hope it never gets heard again after this challenge . : ) [ Reply to This ]
Thanks &mdash 03/29/08 - 09:45:46 AM
Some loops are easier to work with than others but it seems there is a place for all kinds of music in the world even if that music is only one measure long. [ Reply to This ]
serious stuff! &mdash 03/29/08 - 03:26:22 AM
i gotta get motivated on arrangement. man, this thing just flowed. Everything is top notch, and the loop seemed like it belonged. [ Reply to This ]
What an insult &mdash 03/29/08 - 09:48:49 AM
I should be offended that you said the loop sounds like it fit 'cause I think a lot of people would consider the loop to be so ugly that any song it fit into would be an ugly song.
However, I'll take it as a compliment and thank you for the comment. :) [ Reply to This ]
heh.. &mdash 03/29/08 - 01:12:42 PM
definite compliment! that loop is like the ugly old piece of pottery you can't figure out what to do with. Then when some crazy cool designer makes it a focal point in a mansion, it ends up on the cover of a home deco mag :-D [ Reply to This ]
Nice mix &mdash 03/29/08 - 05:00:08 AM

1.21 Gigawatts &mdash 03/29/08 - 09:08:03 AM
tons of energy here!
you must have spent a lot of time on this one - especially the drums!

Gigawatts? &mdash 03/29/08 - 03:20:02 PM
Scared to think of that much power but i kind of figured from your entry in this contest that you could imagine that much wattage.
thanks for the comment and the listen. [ Reply to This ]
kool kit, too &mdash 03/29/08 - 09:42:46 AM
You tamed the loop quite well to integrated it in this funky song. The kit is crisp and clean. Nice goin'!

PS: loud worked well..... [ Reply to This ]
thanks man &mdash 03/29/08 - 03:24:13 PM
Ya loud will work on this if your system can take the kick drum which I tried to mix with as much thump as I could manage without mangling the whole mix. [ Reply to This ]
WOW &mdash 03/29/08 - 11:28:18 AM
I LOVE THIS!! One of my faves so far in the contest - this just ROCKS!! You're amazin' Mr. Announcer Sir! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks for the visit &mdash 03/29/08 - 03:29:54 PM
and for the comment. I tried to make this an all out rock piece with the feel that the band was just rockin out. Glad it worked for you. [ Reply to This ]
Very powerful track &mdash 03/29/08 - 03:22:20 PM
and I like the subtle use of the loop, and it mixes very well. I like the powerful percussion and drums with the guitars over the top of it. I see now why it needs to be turned up to 11 for full effect. Very cool track [ Reply to This ]
Subtle use of loop &mdash 03/29/08 - 10:47:21 PM
It strikes me that the use of the loop is about the only subtle thing in this whole track. :) thanks for the visit and the comment. [ Reply to This ]
That organ . . . &mdash 03/29/08 - 05:26:00 PM
in the middle. Did you play that? It was deliciously funky. Strangely, the loop fit nicely, but I think it did so only because you had so much else happening. It was just another tile in the mosaic, so to speak.

Organ late addition &mdash 03/29/08 - 10:50:04 PM
the organ was actually a late addition to this piece. I had most of the basics down but needed the driving pulses the organ brought to this to really cement the whole thing together. Glad you liked it. [ Reply to This ]
Say Goodbye Doc &mdash 03/29/08 - 10:04:18 PM
...what a groovin' piece! Sounds like a bunch of amped-up musicians jamming around and having a riotously good time. Those drums are blasting - but I really loved that organ pumping away too.
And that snakey bass line... did Doc Lioli have any idea he'd inspire this kind of amp-burning, off-the-wall excellentricity? I don't think so!
Smokin! [ Reply to This ]
Amped up indeed &mdash 03/29/08 - 10:52:36 PM
I worked hard to make this just the way you described it. Really wanted it to sound like a group just having fun almost like a sound check at a concert venue. Glad that you think it worked the way I intended. [ Reply to This ]

thunder &mdash 03/30/08 - 10:55:16 PM
..and lightning strikes.
heavy as all thunder. rocket propelled drums and a walloping overdriven bass brings it home. man what a wild assortment of takes for this competition. excellent job Bill. [ Reply to This ]
thanks vic &mdash 03/30/08 - 11:39:24 PM
Yeah! &mdash 03/31/08 - 10:00:05 AM
Lots of cool stuff going on. The drums are massive and driving. Cool guitar melody. Sounds like keyboard but then you get some almost feedback sounds and the inflection has me fooled. Either way, it sounds great. The bass sounds like it is wandering around looking for someone to beat up!
Great tune! [ Reply to This ]
I like your line about the bass &mdash 03/31/08 - 04:38:00 PM
I worked hard to make the midi "guitar" sound as close to a real guitar with a real guitar player playing the feedback as I could. Played with adding harmonics in the sustain, used the modulation settings and tweaked the virtual amp settings to get what I wanted. Glad you liked the result.

You are the wizard of the beat. Great mix, and definitely no need for lyrics, your lead melodies say it all.

Great stuff &mdash 04/02/08 - 08:51:44 PM
Love that bass (keyboard?) riff and that lovely guitar. Great organ sound playing that rhythmic groove, and shadowed by the loop, sounding suddenly almost cool. Great track - music to move to. Nicely done. Peace. [ Reply to This ]

This piece could strut through brick walls &mdash 04/06/08 - 03:29:03 PM
Let that drummer loose - he's an animal. Not to mention the lead guitarist.
Great work here Bill, the Doctor is finito.
Be well,
