Description:
Just another song recorded in 2003 with Fat Francess. This was written in the fall of 2001 and just kind of casually sums up that period. I was eating shitloads of ice cream during this period, too. Not that that has anything to do with this song, but thinking of that time period reminded me of that. My roommate called it my daily pint. No wonder I've gotten fat.
Lyrics:
Blood on the Chevrolet © 2003
Hey yeah there's trouble to find you in
Everyone's a critic just like everyone's an optimist
There's blood in the waterfall
Misdiagnosis of a deadly epidemic
The epitaphs of heros was written by slaves
There's blood on Rodeo Drive
A sleepwalking crime in the state of New Hampshire
The white man's burden is becoming the minority
There's blood on the Bill of Rights
A terrorist threat in the heart of America
Overzealous harmonies replacing all the melody
Blood on the Chevrolet

Again. great pop sensibility. Weezer-ish. Absolutely fantastic lyrics, brother.
When you've got time you should do this one complete.
Great song.

Gilbert &mdash 03/31/08 - 04:45:18 AM
I wanted to send you an e-mail regarding Gilbert, but it said your e-mail is disabled.
BTW, should the title be Blood on the Chevrolet......not Bood? [ Reply to This ]
indeed &mdash 03/31/08 - 07:47:17 AM
Maybe it could be Boot on the Chevrolet. I used to tie my boot with my foot lifted up on the chrome fender of my 63 Chevy Biscayne. Or maybe a song called Booty on the Chevrolet? That would be my girlfriend waiting for me to finish tying my boot straps. [ Reply to This ]

Maybe it should be Booty on the Chevrolet. I could have Diddy remix it. My millions await. Also, I like that you keep your bootstraps tight whilst your girl awaits. Get you some! [ Reply to This ]

I hope to redo a good amount of my songs on GarageBand so I'm sure we'll be seeing this one again. The mail was disabled for me, too, when I tried to email you. I wonder if they took email down for a while. It should be Blood on the Chevrolet. I'll make the edit, thanks for the heads up! [ Reply to This ]

Just having a little fun. I see you edited the song title. Now I won't Brood "on the Chevrolet" anymore! Good song, by the way. Lotsa youthful energy. Love that modulation. Important lyrics, too. I'm listening. [ Reply to This ]

Great song here, man. Love those catchy vocal melodies throughout. especially love the ooo ooo ooo's in the bridge. Awesome lyrics, too. Looking forward to the GB version! [ Reply to This ]
GB version &mdash 03/31/08 - 11:12:35 AM
Honestly, I'm excited for the GB version as well. I've spent the last few weeks transferring everything I have on tape. While I'm transferring the songs like every third or fourth one is something I think should be totally revisited. I'm foaming at the mouth to really get after it. Thanks for listening! This Does... &mdash 03/31/08 - 12:20:56 PM
This does sound Weezerish, one of my favorite bands! The guitars remind me of Live (like their song When Lighting Strikes). I agree that I would like to hear a full rendition of this song will drums and stuff. That is a nice driving churning guitar part! [ Reply to This ]
Cool &mdash 03/31/08 - 01:40:58 PM
I listen to loads of weezer so I'm sure that would sign through somewhere. I'm glad you liked it and keep an eye for the updated version! [ Reply to This ]

Very cool song &mdash 03/31/08 - 09:08:22 PM
You may be thinking about redoing this song, but if you do, I hope you keep the raw energy and vibrancy of this performance somehow. Great track, filled with powerful imagery. Great rhythm too. Nicely done. Peace. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks! &mdash 03/31/08 - 10:37:52 PM
That's the trick, isn't it? It's great to polish a track up, but you certainly run the risk of over doing it. I'll be careful, I promise :). [ Reply to This ]
Good Song &mdash 04/01/08 - 01:51:19 AM
I would like to hear this one developed a little more. The lyrics are interesting as is the melody and harmony.
This is a good demo which deserves another take.

Me too &mdash 04/02/08 - 01:47:18 PM
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It does need more developing. They're actually quite high on my list for a GB facelift, but the drums scare me. Both this song and Fat Francess have rolling, rollicking drums (in my head) and to input that in GB using my keys would take FOREVER. I'm a little daunted by the idea of it. I will do it, though. Either that or just get drums on demand like everyone else and find a good enough loop there... Thanks again for stopping by! [ Reply to This ]
Great! &mdash 04/04/08 - 04:29:10 PM
It reminds me of early punk. Digging it. Thanks for sharing it here!

Bounce and venom &mdash 04/10/08 - 09:38:49 AM
Nor sure what it all means - same ay I'm nor sure what your typical cubist masterpiece is about... but the first words that struck me was "bounce" in the rhythm and pacing and "venom," the same combination that made Elvis Costello so great, or earlier XTC, such as on Black Sea (before they became the British Steely Dan). A great mix of fun with a sharp bite.
I can hear a full band production of this with a lot of power and some killer attitude in the vocal delivery. But as is it's a great songwriter showcase that lets the listener imagine any number of directions it could go in if some big-money rocker wanted to pay you for the publishing! [ Reply to This ]
Interesting &mdash 04/10/08 - 02:19:37 PM
I like the idea that this version of the song is ambiguous enough to give the listener the ability to take it where they want it to. I want to to a full version of this tune, but I'm tempted to leave it as is for that reason alone. Thanks! [ Reply to This ]
