Description:
An old song that I'm posting here for the first time. I still kinda like it, although it's not very Roca. I was informed that the words "frost" and "shimmer" are often used together to sell women's hair products. Well, oops, I guess. I decided to keep my original title anyway, at the risk that I'll be suspected of browsing Cosmo or some such.

Actually, I was thinking of the sun breaking through the winter morning clouds, and the way the ice crystals on the trees shimmer in reflection. The intro is dark and cold, stepping out of a mountain cabin in the post-dawn, the middle is introspective and complacent, alone in the gray-sky gloom and silence of the morning. Then the sun breaks through, and everything changes. After that, I power saw my way through a stand of big trees, just for the hell of it. Anyway, that's what I was thinking about at the time (except for the bit with the power saw).

I should have played the guitar part on this, but I didn't. It's one of the guitar harmonics settings on the EXSP24. The backing synths are Zebra 2 presets that I added into this new version. The Bellsphere Basic makes a brief appearance near the end.

I'm very pleased to hear that you like my humble offering. I appreciate the kind words and take encouragement from them. Interesting coincidence that the only comment (so far, anyway) is by "Morning Light," as that pretty well summarizes my song description.

i never noticed the correlation between those words and women's hair products. it's cool though: i am a fan of women's hair and this song. great textures and such a peaceful feel. makes me want to do some more ambient music. excellent.

Beauitiful &mdash 04/08/08 - 03:59:53 PM

This reminds me of the lovely film the Snow Queen and I can see
her palace in my minds eye. As the camera pans along the iced over castle
on the snowy mountain and i hear the shimmering tinkling of the ice crystals anyhow this is some of my interpretation .
I loved it.
Peace Dee.

Ice crystals ... &mdash 04/09/08 - 11:16:56 AM
yeah, that's what I wanted at the end. I'm gratified that you could see that, too. I think I saw that movie on TV way back when.

Very impressionistic. A good one to close the eyes to and see the notes. Great sounds!

Maybe not very Roca &mdash 08/28/08 - 03:29:05 PM
But very very beautiful and oh so enjoyable to listen to! Please continue to make these ambient pieces as well, even if your guitars and drums are rocking hard also. Please?! Cause you sure HAVE talent for it!!!

Stay well and thanks for another download!

How can something &mdash 09/10/08 - 12:48:13 PM
that comes from you not be you? I loved the very peaceful and awed feeling of this. Reading your description tells me that you are observant and appreciative of little things. So very perfect.
Thank you.
