Description:
I wanted to try out some vocal harmonies and for some reason it ended up being about a dog I grew up with.Only trouble is,I mentioned about it having fur - I dunno if dogs have fur or hair - but I've never heard of 'the fur of the dog' so that might not be quite right, lol.

Lyrics:
Faithful Hound

Green as a hill
Blue as the sea
Strong as the heart that beats
Cold as a stone
Lying below
Sings for a day and is gone

Nowhere to be found
Far away from town
Faithful Hound

Follow the streams
Call of the wild
Eyes never fail to see
Bright is the fur
The tail on the trail
Run for to catch the wind

Somwhere I will go
Springtime,rain or snow

Nowhere to be found
Far away from town
Faithful Hound

I absolutely love this. I am a big fan of harmony and dogs. Some of the chords of harmony are fantastic, plus it's just a neat song also. I know you are not a country music fan but you are very close to some mountain harmonies here. You know I had a pair of fur boots that I loved, but noticed one day on the sole......made from dog fur. I had wondered before why some dogs seemed fascinated with them and seemed to look at me with disdain. I never felt the same about em.

Well I think I would react in the same way if I saw a dog walking round in boots made from.. my next door neighbour. Those boots were definately made for walking! I like some country music - I had an attempt at it with Jenny Is The Sunshine Girl - I've been told it sounds more like a pickup truck song - whatever that means, haha.Wow mountain harmonies - really? I like the sound of that - I'm living near the highest mountain in England so perhaps thats an influence. Most people would call it a hill though,I suspect.. Thanks for the welcome comments - Richard

Do dogs have coats rather than hair or fur? Who cares -I was too busy taking in your music to worry about it. Such a lot of intetresting things going on with the insturmenation and harmonies. Very well mixed (and played) so you can easily tune in to the different things going on (I liked the distinct guitar parts). I'm so glad I dropped by to hear this - I'm off to check you other songs out now.
Cheers
Steve

Experiment Successful! &mdash 03/31/08 - 09:42:56 AM
Great job on the harmonies. And the love you had for the old hound shines through.

Very pleasant track. It transports me to a simple time when all one needed was a faithful four-legged companion and an open field.

Yeah the old mut bit me in the face once but I soon forgave him - I was meddling with his nose when he was trying to sleep so thats my fault.Never ignore a growl I guess! Cheers - Rich

I like the lyrics a lot, being a dog-owner I can relate. Especially the tail on the trail part.

I never would have imagined the refrain "Faithful Hound" would sound cool, but you managed to do it! I really like the layers here. The vocal harmonies and chord progression are nice too. Excellent song!

among your many talents &mdash 04/01/08 - 06:20:24 AM
which are many, in this craft... you consistently seem to know how to get to the heart of the mater... you allow folks the opportunity to respond on an emotional level... right where music should always hit us... It gives your work such traction...

Mission Accomplished &mdash 04/01/08 - 10:04:12 AM
My little dog, a Peek-a-Poo, turned 16 last week. Although he lives with my ex and I get to see him infrequently, we still have a special bond, right up their with my family and best friends. ;)

The vocal harmonies you were... *trying out* work quite pleasantly, Richard, producing a warm and fuzzy feeling here in this simple tune.

It's a nice, folksy acoustic song.

My only observation is that because of the constant harmonies, it seems to sound like a collection of choruses in search of a verse. Perhaps slowly building from a solo voice and then adding harmony parts as you go along would change that. Just a thought. ;)

Fantastic &mdash 04/01/08 - 05:47:12 PM
You know- sometimes you see a song riding high in the picks and say WTF (how I feel when mine happen to get there for example). But this... this is perfectly deserving- count me among the sucker for harmonies crowd- these are sooo cool sounding. Guitar sounds great... really, quite a treat in all aspects.

Great Harmonies &mdash 04/04/08 - 02:18:44 PM
I love the harmonies. I would have liked to hear the song kick in with drums when the second verse came in. This is a very strong song and with all the layers it would have been cool to see it layered with percussion. Thanks and I look forward to hearing more of your stuff.

Was the name of my first dog. A Collie/Boarder Collie mix. An amazing pal until one day he was stolen along with his son, --who was virtually identical to him in looks-- that he had created with a randy bitch next door. We never found him and I wonder to this day what happened to him and how someone could be so callous. Your song brought back some raw emotions for me and I thank you for that.

Again I come back to this choon -- It 's flawless yet as someone observed earlier it's missing something and I think that is definitely a bridge - BONNIE PRINCE JOHNNY Decreeth Write A Fucking Bridge For This Fucking Song So That It May Transcend The Merely Flawless And Become The Transendental. I kid thee fucking not Richard.
