Description:
I wanted to do something wicked with MJ's very own mashuperhero Justbase for his crime-fighting skills and this is what we came up with - Mixed up, mashed up, sliced up and triggered - the Melting Ice Mix.
Like most superheros and general do-gooders, our hero, The Turtle lives a tormented life. His positive attitude and heart of gold are the only things keeping his head up. When faced with the challenges of evil, The Turtle can do one of two things. He can turn his back on the world or he can jump in and fight for the good guys.
I hear our Masked Avenger shout "GO TURTLE GO!!"
Lyrics:
Slow turtle
Solitary hurdle
Go Turtle Go!
Hardware:
PowerBook, Microphone

Battling Dr Lioli senseless in a flurry of moves and sonic Popeye maneuvres... excellent melody with frantic strobelights and tin cans ricochetting off the walls! Turtles saving the city? You CAN DOO IT!!! [ Reply to This ]

Some of my fave 5EA sounds are here! &mdash 03/31/08 - 08:41:26 AM
This is not as chaotic as it first appears - I actually dig the modern jazz feeling. The repetition keeps my attention as it stomps along making statement after statement. Damn file mixing, Bob!
And a 'proper' ending too.
I've heard this and decided that you have a solid understanding of music and how to use the technology available to further the listener experience.
Either that or it's just a rabble...LOL!

you guys really baked a special cake with this one. I'm kinda at a loss for words - and in awe of the slicing and dicing. Pretty amazing - great collab. [ Reply to This ]

A real bomb"shell". This distorted organ is really wicked, among many great sounds. [ Reply to This ]
Oh yes, guys &mdash 03/31/08 - 12:23:29 PM
I can definitely see our turtle here jump in and fight for the good guys! It is a great ride indeed on the back of the wild turtle, and without a saddle, too. The whole Italian 5EA fun club, after a long and much participated session, unanimously express a very favorable judgement on this! [ Reply to This ]
Go turtle &mdash 03/31/08 - 12:41:16 PM
Excellent work my man! Rhythmic, discordant chaos, great big electronic noise. Really excellent - reminds me of the start of se7en!

What a trip Bob! Sounds like a massive bolt of lightning hit a junkyard and brought it to life!
Great production throughout.

to run screaming and holding his ears, I don't know what will. It almost all noise made musical by some magical process I'm sure you developed in you secret underground testing laboratory.
Well done Turtle and friends, an effort well worth doing in out fight against the evil Doctor. Great mix and extremely cool use of sound guys

Boiler room of sound &mdash 03/31/08 - 06:38:11 PM
This pushes the boundaries of music, its a cross between ultrasonic 1969 IBM computer to computer communication and the sound of nebulas in silent space exploding into smithereens, the very stuff of universal chaos itself. heh something like that... [ Reply to This ]
A Shell of an entry! &mdash 03/31/08 - 08:22:13 PM
I like the industrial feel to it. It makes me think of a Depeche Mode remix.
GO TURTLE GO!

Mixed up mashed up... &mdash 03/31/08 - 08:56:52 PM
however you want to describe it, this is riveting stuff. The loop suddenly becomes interesting, nicely framed in all this sonic assault. Very cool. Nicely done, folks. Peace. [ Reply to This ]
remember... &mdash 03/31/08 - 09:26:09 PM
when we would go fishing and discussed if we caught any turtles that we would take them home and paint racing numbers on the shell. and accent it with flame decals? and who's to know you would add a hemi engine to it. This is so wickedly right and I'll pray for the turtle that suffered a heart attack when this was finished.
I gotta play this for the guy's in the art department tomorrow! they will dig this. [ Reply to This ]

It may not make sense... &mdash 04/03/08 - 11:22:49 AM
But it's what comes to surface - This rendered a confused and complicated smile across my body. Didga do that on purpose? It sure felt like you did. iintriguing, to say the least.
That little tortoise is giving 'em freakn' hell, I tell ya! LOL!
That was good! quite the interesting listen.

I just had to get that out of my system. I was really just overwhelmed with pleasure and dance-filled happiness. This is so good. For some reason it reminds me of the remix of the Mission impossible someone once did...was it Fred Durst? Very cool! (Lisa) [ Reply to This ]

I LOVE IT!
I always did like turtles, but this makes me love this turtle very much in particular.
This is not to diminish perception of your song, but to elevate our perception of video game music: I can hear this as a soundtrack to one of those Japanese race car or general butt-kicking games--the music is always surprising good (but yours is better, of course). [ Reply to This ]
I had no idea you made this kind of music &mdash 04/07/08 - 07:26:08 AM
This is one of those pieces of music that makes me realize that the tonal palate available in electronic music is not limited, that you can carve out a unique sound. You've done that here for me.
I will have to check out more of your work.
