Romance (43)
Description:
This is somewhat based on Romance which was originally a song a long while ago. You have have heard parts of this piece. Is was originally introduced into a classical guitar form by a classical guitarist named Narcisco Yepes, the title was called "Romance", it was composed for a movie called Jeuz Interdit in 1952. At lease that is what I came up with. But there was another movie called Blood and Sand. Which the guitar was played by a Vicente Gomez, he as passed away. But they say that Romance was in the classical repertoire even 13 years before Yepes got a hold of it. So in away it is kind of confusing to really understand what the true originality of it. But I believe it was a song first.
It became quite a staple in the classical guitar form as a concert performance piece. But I have added tons more fingerstyle arrangement to it. Plus the orchestra which is totally original.

Hi Bill &mdash 04/02/08 - 07:16:25 AM
I've played the easy version of Romanza, the version you find in those books of easy tabs of classical guitar pieces, for a while. Sure, I get it sounding quite nice and the family think it's very clever but I would never have thought of developing it as you have here. Marvelous interpretation and beautifully executed as usual. As you say, the theme is recognisable in parts but you've also added a lot of original parts that fit the mood perfectly. You really set the standard for the acoustic guitar players on MJs.
Looking forward to your next post already!
Steve

i know this, and I think you have done an amazing job with it. love all of the backing tracks, especially that drum beat. so inventive, could have been in a well scored 60's film. how in the world did you get a nylon string to sound that nice?

Beautiful guitar as always Bill &mdash 04/03/08 - 07:20:46 PM
Recorded to perfection in your inimmitable style - like the backing tracks, but would love to hear this with a real acoustic bassist who could get the groove happening even more. Hectorious comes to mind as a possibility.

Fantastic.

Heres what I &mdash 04/03/08 - 08:39:17 PM
love about your playing. You can move so freely from classical to fingerstyle country to jazz - a fantastic talent that only a few have ever grasped in their musical hands, guys like Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Django, your efforts reach those heights my friend.

Really great piece of work. Romance is one of the very best pieces I've ever heard. Wonderful new version of it.
Thanks a lot for sharing.... I bow deeply for this work!
