Description:
Okay, so the deadline I think, is over to save MacJammers from Dr. Lioli, but since I have never submitted to one of these before, and since the question of LOOPS has arisen pretty often lately, I thought I'd spend a few hours and give it a whack. So, this little ditty is completely made of loops from GarageBand (except the vocals, of course). Including the 80's Rock Guitar given in the challenge. It's in there, I swear, you just have to listen for it.

NOTE: This song is proof that I should NOT be making rock songs! Please forgive the inane lyrics, but for the life of me, I could NOT come up with anything else!

Also, another little side note. I was recently given some great avdice from racerat, well actually, he merely pointed out that lyricists and vocalists who mix their own music, usually place the vocals way too high in the mixes, as do guitar players with their guitars, etc. so I thought I would take that to heart and try to mix this with the vocals more balanced in with all the other sounds. Hope I succeeded!

As for you, Dr. Lioli, you cannot resist my Siren Song...

Lyrics:
i stacked the deck in my favor
like i always do
i sent all i had in me
straight to you

you never had a chance
to resist the pull
instead you came right to me
and gave me my fill

get over here now i need you
come to me now 'cause told you to

i let you think you had
the choice to set me free
but you found out my friend
that was never meant to be

i stacked the deck in my favor
like i always do
i'll have all the fun i want
until i'm through with you

Yeah! &mdash 04/03/08 - 09:53:54 PM
I hear that bad boy loop and it rawks! I'm listening under the crappiest circumstances imaginable, tiny speakers in a room with a loud television, but I can hear that this is mega-cool and I'm going to listen on headphones in a little while. Fantastic harmonies, SKB.

in the coffin of Dr Lioli. And a darn good nail it is. Sound great, good harmonies and vocal to be sure.

You are now officially a Super Looper

Thanks so much &mdash 04/04/08 - 12:34:50 PM
Thanks y'all! It was fun to make that song. It took about four hours, and it shows! Haha! Rock ain't my thang, so to speak, but it's fun to experiment and stretch now and then out of our comfort zones.

Looking forward to the next LIOLI challenges. I'd like to do it again!

well hello there! It's nice to find YOUR music as well. We can thank ledeb for finding each other haha. You really have a wonderful voice. I am jealous at your ability to write lyrics. I take forever to come up with some good verbage to use.

I am an instant fan. Good luck with your band too! Ever coming to NY?

A very nice 4 hours of work! &mdash 04/06/08 - 11:31:05 PM
I think you've done a good job here - like the vocals (and the harmonies which work really well). It's funny, but I've just listened to Racerat's new one and had noted some similarities in your mix - then I read that Philip gave you that advice. Interesting.

I'm unsure how much is you playing and how much is loops, but whatever the ratio is, you have turned out a great little rock song.

Who says... &mdash 04/07/08 - 06:59:15 AM
...you should not be making rock songs?

This rocks and it WORKS... Reminds me of Heart... Okay, they're not my usual listening fare, but they certainly were popular, and for a long time, too....

Good dynamics in the arrangement. My suggestion on this one would've been to work on bringing the level of the whole recording up a little, maybe with some multiband compression.

Great vocals, as usual. Especially great rock harmonies...
