Description:
This piece is following on from the last few non-loop-based mixes that I've uploaded over the last few weeks.
It's a departure from my normal way of doing things in that I've used both programming and simple chord generators to produce almost two tunes intermixed, to make this version come out sounding somewhat experimental, hence the genre it is placed in.
The sounds are a cross between Santana, from the early 70's and Tangerine Dream from more or less any time.
The percussion is minimal, as is the backing type tracks. I've tried to give the mix a sense of improvisation whilst being somewhat constrained and structured.
There will be more of these type of mixes but hopefully with less experimental content, so dragging these pieces (kicking a screaming) more into 'normal' music space.

I'm always so impressed by the creativity of your brain! I love stuff you've been uploading lately and this is no exception. Not sure I really WANT this to get normalized, but on the other hand since it's you, I'm sure I'll be on board! thanks [ Reply to This ]
Thanks M..... &mdash 04/05/08 - 07:59:07 AM
I had to re-read my description to know where you were coming from....I forget things more and more these days!!!
The whole thing about normal music comes to light due to my father's view of music, where only songs and music that he knows does he call 'normal' music. All else is 'improvisation' or some other 'fangled noise'. Give him Tito Gobi and Maria Callas or Richard Tauber and he's in his element. All else is just a waste of good 'record players'.
Thanks for stopping by.
You're welcome on board any and every day you choose.
Take care.

Hi Paul...... &mdash 04/05/08 - 08:02:24 AM
I'm happy you find something in my 'musical' excursions. It makes everything worthwhile if someone apart from myself hears something in the music that they enjoy.
I have the same type of pleasure listening to all your music that you so kindly share with us.
Take care.

Very cool! &mdash 04/15/08 - 08:18:18 PM
This sounds great! And you have many of the same influences it seems...add in Brian Eno and Kraftwerk and its complete. This is terrific and the first piece I've heard of yours. I saw a collab I think that drove me to your page and now I will explore more. I'm also a techie, still in awe of the Moog which I guess ages me :) I remember when Wendy was still Walter! Hi Mike..... &mdash 04/16/08 - 10:24:05 AM
It's nice of you to stop by and listen to my music.
I was brought up on Moogs. The original plus ARP synths. I've been hooked ever since.
I've recently been revisiting my old recordings and enjoyed again, after god knows how many years, Leo Sayer and his Silverbird album. Some of the tracks are still fresh and not dated at all.
I'll have a listen to some of your music over the next few days.
Take care.
