Description:
This song was inspired by a comment made to me by Dee1962z when she reviewed another song of mine called "Stoned Cold Lonesome Blues". As soon as I read the words yesterday, I knew there was a song there, and this is it.
So Thanks Dee for the title I couldn't put down until the song was done.
Enjoy

Half the Blues By Edward C. Wemmerus Sr.Copyright (c) April 4, 2008 Edward C. Wemmerus Sr.

Verse
Every time I come here Baby, it always makes me so damn mad, yeah, yes it does
Cause lookin' down that bottle Baby, makes me think of what I had
And Baby your so nice to me, but sometimes darlin' your so sad
Verse
But if I get off that bar stool, and try to head on out that door, oh yeah
You keep pullin' me back Baby, set me down, and start to pour
Seems like every time I try to leave, you keep pourin' me some more, yeah, yes you do
Chorus
Cause Baby you got half the blues, yeah, and I'm the other half , yeah yeah
Just between the two of us, you know these blues ain't gonna last
Cause I know the way you feel Mama, I got my heart's in a cast
Verse
Yeah but sittin here and drinkin, ain't no way to make it pass, yeah yeah
Maybe if we get together Baby, we can make work, make it last, oh yeah
Since you got half the Blues, oh yeah, and I'm the other half, Play that, yeah
Verse
Baby half the Blues ain't near as bad, as being all alone
Just because your love is gone, Huh, you think there ain't nobody home, yeah
But maybe pretty Baby, huh, your the two and I'm the one, oh yeah, think about it, yeah
Chorus and out
Saying, Baby you got half the blues, huh, and Baby I'm the other half, yeah -- Now think about it
Just between the two of us, You know these blues ain't gonna last
Since you got half the blues pretty mama, yeah, and I'm the other half
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh oh

You play some of the sweetest guitar around. On MJ we have so many amazing guitar players... yourself, McBoy, etc... all are just amazing!
This is sweet down home blues. I LOVE IT!
Vocals are GREAT!

I have to admit, I get a little help from GB from time to time, but this blues track was something I had to do. I built the backing tracks in GB and added my guitar and the vocal to it. The lyrics just kinda fell out of me and there was no way I couldn't do it.
Glad you liked it Mark, and took the time to let me know. Thanks again for the kind words, they give me a lot of encouragement.

Actually I really do have you to thank for this song even existing. I guess it was just one of those serendipitous moments where an unexpected event that happens leads to a happy conclusion. You said the words that triggered a thought process and the results are here for all of us to enjoy.
So my thanks do go to you for giving me the inspiration on this. It all came together in a flash and was a tremendous amount of fun to do. Glad you enjoyed it Dee, and thanks again on several levels.
Be well my friend.

I'm so glad you came to the bar tonight and enjoyed the band. We were really getting into it on this particular song, don't ya know. As for the song itself, we can all thank Dee1962z for that, as her words gave me the title and that inspired the song.
It was a fun song to do and left a very rewarding feeling in me when I finished it. I'm not the one to judge, but personally, I think it's the best song I've ever done.
I'm thrilled that you liked it and I do appreciate you kind words, thanks again.
Be well and keep the music playing, it's good for the spirit.

Glad you found it and liked in my friend. It was one of those once in a lifetime inspirations that fall into you lap, and a hell of a lot of fun to do as well.
Doing the blues isn't new to me, it's actually what I used to do a lot of almost 40 years ago. But then when I stopped doing music for a long time it took a while for me to get back to it when I started playing again. All the old chops and feelings take time to get back after all this time.
But it feels soooo good when I do it, I think I'll just do it some more.
Be well Mark, and thanks again for the kind words

Nice authentic blues club feeling you've captured in this tune, Ed.
Reminds me of many nights spent listening to old B.B. King LPs when I first started playing guitar.
Good work, my friend. ;)

if you mention LP's to most of the young kids here, they either tilt there head like a dog that's confused, or just give you that deer in the headlights look.
It's only us old timers that understand what your comment really means. I can remember listening to records till I wore them and my fingers out trying to figure out how to play certain songs. But that was then, this is now.
And now we've all been dragged kicking and screaming into the digital age. I for one am glad of it because it gives us all a chance to share what we do, to teach, and or learn from each other.
Anyway, thanks for the listen and the kind words Joe, they are very much appreciated.
Be well and keep on playing, we like what you do.

Your song has a lovely relaxing feel with fantastic vocals. Great stuff :)
PS nowt wrong with a little bit of GB thrown in here and there. Esp if it sounds as good as this :)
sloparts
You know there's nothing wrong with using GB, it's just another tool to use to help us make better music. Besides, if I had to hire some local musicians where I live, the results wouldn't be as good, and I couldn't afford it anyway.
Glad you enjoyed the song, and took time to let me know that. You kind words are appreciated, thank you again.
Be well and keep stealing time on Dee's computer, just to set her off if nothing else. lol

This has always been my favorite kind of music to do, but I haven't done any of it for close to 40 years. A long time between gigs if you know what I mean.
Anyway, glad you stopped in for a listen and enjoyed the song. Thanks again for the kind words and encouragement Benny.

I hear that afer Woodstock, after CBGBs, after our little video upload forum, Feter may be opening a Chicago Blues club... so put the kettle on slow-boil and start cookin' more of this stuff up!
Ed, I always like your stuff, country or blues.
sloparts
Thanks Bob, glad you liked this one. Had more fun than a barrel full of monkeys, (not THE Monkeys I might add), doing this one. But now I gotta live up to the promise of this one and come up with something altogether new.
It's a tough life when you got the Blues.
Be well my friend.

If you read the intro on this you'll notice we all have Dee1962z to thank for this one. She just accidentally threw the title into my head and within about 24 hours this is what came out. I was and am as amazed as anyone about that.
Thanks again for the kind word Cat, really clad you like it, and dropped me a line to tell me.
Be well my friend

Very Fine! Mellow, melancholy, and right on track! Very down home and almost trance-inducing !
Keep up the good work!

The story I told on this about how it came to be is true. I guess it was on of those times when the song wrote itself and I just tried to hang on for the ride.
Really glad you enjoyed the song and sent along some very kind comments about it Myrna. Thanks again for listening.
Be well and Be cool,
Ed
