Description:
A friend challenged me to write a song for the Beatles and I came up with a Badfinger song.
It's getting better all the time.
You'll either have a good time or it will annoy the hell out of you.

Lyrics:
Daylight Comes Can't wait any longer
I'm like the sunrise ready to shine
Just a little bit somber
I'm on the red line, running so high
Daylight come, Daylight comes, everyday
Wanna' thank the morning
It takes a lifetime to realize
Hope I'm not too boring
Better praise tomorrow's sunrise
Daylight comes, Daylight comes, everyday
I wanna' hear the warning
Travel the corners of time and space
Don't you hear what I'm saying?
It might be over, don't lose the race
Daylight comes, daylight comes, everyday
Light is twisting and bending
Catch the only one and paint the fence
Dreaming love without ending
Rising up and the descending
Daylight comes, Daylight comes, everyday

I think you met the challenge Dave.
bouncy and a nice sing a long quality.
well good day sunshine. now i just need to know why is it snowing..... again
lavalamp
of getting you involved in this one because I realized you sound a lot like the singer from Badfinger. And your guitar would have been great.
Maybe we could start a Macjams band "Goodtoe", how's that for a name?
Snow huh?
Dave
Vic Holman
i like it and snow tomorrow morning as well. it never does that in april
ThinkTank

Great chirpy little tune Dave. Nice one to wake up to.
lavalamp
Thanks for stopping by as always. Yes, let's say this is a Sunday morning song.
Thanks,
Dave
I just wanted to use the word "Beatle-y." I don't know who Badfinger is, but, well. . . I think I can imagine this as a Beatle's song.
It was fun and cheerful, but there were lines where the rhythms felt forced or rushed. For example "Better praise tomorrow's sunrise" sounded like you were in a hurry to get through it.
Fun music, and I think the keyboard rhythms were particularly Beatle-y.
lavalamp
Never forced. But, thanks for pointing that out.
Glad you liked it?
Hope to see you around.
The weather's got me thinking.........

Ever hear the song "Come and Get It?" McCartney wrote it and Badfinger did the song. It was their first hit. Good song.
"If you want it, here it is, come and get it
woo, woo, woo, woo
Make your mind up fast."
W/ great production, I would say the most pro sounding thing you have done to date love that short sweet chorus, so familiar which is a good thing for sure! Very nice Dave!
lavalamp
You think it's one of my best productions. I knock this one out in about 3 hours........go figure?
Thanks TW

This is a tasty confection. A Grewat tune for feeling young and eeling the spring breeze as it blows the crust-o-matic barnacles off my winter hull.
lavalamp
Thanks for the compliment.
Glad that you took the time and took a lesson.
Hope to see you around more often.

catchy and the good kind of familiar. the thing I always like about your vocals is the honesty of them. nothing ever sounds forced or sounds like you sang 100 takes to get it right. well done pal!
lavalamp
I'm really weak at vocals, so any support is appreciated. Sometime, I forget that I came back into this as a songwriter and not a singer. But, it seems if you don't sing it right, you don't get the respect.
So, I try.

Outside it is in fact raining and everything is overcast and gloomy. This cheered me up considerably. Nice lyrics, great arrangement, and very good melody. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.
P.S. Impossible to listen without bopping my head like a nut. Good thing.
lavalamp
It snow today. No daylight. So, it really doesn't come everyday.
I might have to take this one down.
LL
BossHook
reminds me of the great pop tunes of my youth in the mid 70's. A bit Partridge family a bit Monkees but I mean that in the best sense since those songwriters were hit makers.
lavalamp
Glad you stopped by and took a listen. Hope to see you around more often.

Maybe it's just me, but this has a more Beach Boys feel to me - a little tweaking on the mix and a bit more reverb in the right places and it could be Brian and the boys. Oh and a few extra harmonies. Your voice sounds a lot like Mike Love.
Fun song Dave.
Goodtoe - I like that!!
Neil
lavalamp
I think that would be a brilliant idea to add harmonies. It really a Beachboys song, now to think of it.
Thanks for taking a listen.
LL
Wow! Nice job! A really uplifting bit of tuneage man. Very nicely mixed as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the singing throughout.
Be well friend!
lavalamp
Glad I could do a more uplifting song. Glad you dug it.
Be well, too, my friend.

Dave,
I'm not sure if anyone here will agree with me, but I think that either you've been heavily influenced by the Beatles, or you are one of the Beatles or possibly one of them lived next door to you in the 60's when you used to sing your songs with the windows opened.
I want you to stop what you're doing and send me a video of you singing right now.
Please don't let me down, buddy boy. I'll send you an autographed photo of Vic Holman. Speaking of Vic, have you and he reunited to do a song yet? Come on guys! What are you waiting for?
Your best friend at MacJams and in the entire state of Florida,

A friend of mine challenged me to write a Beatles song. He's one of they best guitar players I've seen live. He said he couldn't do it. I drunkly replied that I could.
Just did my best Dana Carvey from SNL, remember that bit where he plays a songwriting and he writes Chopping Broccoli. Too obscure?
I know you're just goofing, but I try not to be too much of a Beatle rip-off, but it's just so damned fun.
I wish I could have been a writer for the Monkees.
My old best friend lives in Fla., but you're still number one.
Can you get Vic to sign my guitar?
Dave
five_extra_arms
(Notice how he danced around the "send me a video" comment?)
Don't listen to him David! Bob is lying! I've tried to get Vic to pose for pictures and he refuses to do it. The photos Bob is offering you are fakes!
Hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa......
Monkaton
Nice going Lava. I could hear some chorus guitar work in the chorus and a nice bass emphasizing the rhythm in the chorus.
Good going.

Great time!

Feel good tune for sure! Definitely had me smiling and bopping my head - I think you succeeded with this one! Great production on this. It's a fun melody and nice thoughts behind the lyrics. Thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to listen. My stuff may not be your style, but thanks for stopping by.

this song had me smiling all the way through, i couldn't help but bob my head, its a contagious beat you've got there, it just works perfectly with the choppy piano chords. Nice vocals too, the stereo/doubled effect really helps thicken the texture, and also creates a nice, balanced soundscape. Really enjoyed this, fav'd dwnld!
Cheers for this dave

lavalamp
Love the family guy, too. I saw what Lisa (ledebutant) wrote on your last song. I agree. I'm not blowing smoke, YOU'VE GOT SOME REAL TALENT.
Hope to hear from you a few more times before you make it big.
Thanks. Glad you liked this song.
