Description:
This is a song more in keeping with 'Trance Ambient' in that it has elements that would be pigeonholed in both camps.
It's a jig, a tune of indecision, different rhythms counter to each other but (I hope) fitting together and enhancing the feeling of someone not quite knowing which way to turn.
It's a waltz, in parts, and can also bee seen as 'happy chaotic'.
I hope that I've set the tone for listening.
Let me know what you think and where I should change things.
It has elements of Zebra, a chordate, energyXT2, Reaper 2, Voxengo effects, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Spindizzy comes to mind.

Hi ML.... &mdash 04/07/08 - 02:21:36 PM
I'm happy that you found the 'happy chaotic' OK to listen to. It tended to drive me crazy, the more I listened to it, trying to identify the various rhythms and counter rhythms.
Thanks for stopping by and listening.
Take care.

You are so good at making all kinds of interesting, crazy, different sounds and seem to do it so easily. I appreciate that you continue experimenting and letting us be a part of all of it. You are very creative Paul. I always enjoy the ride. Thanks for sharing this with us. [ Reply to This ]
Hi Gail...... &mdash 04/07/08 - 02:25:53 PM
Thank for stopping by to listen. I know that some of my stuff may be less music and more noise but this had enough music, I thought, to put it here on MJ's. I'm glad that I did, as it seems to be to some Macjammer folks liking.
Take care.

Just when I think I'm getting somewhere (with my music), you post something new and I show me how I've barely crossed the start line! This is FABULOUS, I'm on my third listen. I love these sounds of controlled chaos, so rhythmic and wild simultaneously. Are you in garageband? (I don't think so!) This is magnificent, total download, it will get MANY listens by me! Hi M..... &mdash 04/07/08 - 02:32:27 PM
I haven't used Garageband for many months. This piece has been put together with energyXT2, a host system, with soft synths and soft effects. I programmed the rhythm algorithm around a Dorian V scale and mixed the lot using a Balzano chord space.
I guess you could say I dabble a bit in my music production!!
There will be many more pieces of odd music from me over the next few years.
Take care.

its the pear tree &mdash 04/06/08 - 03:21:18 PM
that does it! :-) Reinholt great combination of rythyms. I'm partial to those flanged synth sounds. Like pleasing electrons coursing through my brain. [ Reply to This ]
Hi KTB.... &mdash 04/07/08 - 02:35:23 PM
It's great that you spotted my list of ingredients for this mix!! Some have so many plugins that typing them out on here always brings that Chrismas Carol to mind.
I know what you mean about the electrons coursing. Some of my music is like that.
Thanks for listening and leaving your kind comments.
Take care.

that is a lovely piece of music. it all flows together, it evokes images of tibet and the mountains. [ Reply to This ]
Hi Tokai.... &mdash 04/07/08 - 02:41:02 PM
If my music reminds you of Tibet, then I am really surprised.
I feel very deeply the whole problem of Tibet and worry for the Tibetan people and their repression and oppression by the 'unnamed communists'. It has been at the front of my mind for many years and is there at the moment more that usual due to the highlighting of the human suffering there as I type this.
I'm glad you found something positive in this piece of music.
Take care.

It may be... &mdash 04/06/08 - 10:17:58 PM
...a jig, but my first thought was of a high-tech hoedown. Such brilliant percussive jangles! ... Now you need to team up with Bud's latest extended loop and you guys could rule the world! Your own invention is ever creative and there is no doubt to me that you are the master when it comes to this kind of composition.
Peace.

Hi Paul... &mdash 04/07/08 - 02:46:38 PM
The piece started off as an electronica piece but, as I layered things up and experimented with phrasing, the jig element stood out. Maybe it would be a fast jig but the music definitely sounded 'jiggish'!!
The elements fit both Ambient and Trance whilst not being true to either in any pure way, so I edged my bets and called it music a mixed-genre. Good or bad I don't know, but there you have it.
I've literally no idea what will come out next although I've already another 3 pieces to upload before I need to prepare any 'newer' noise.
Take care and thanks for your support, as always.

Hi H...... &mdash 04/08/08 - 10:29:12 AM
I just play around with 'stuff', programming sounds and rhythms where possible and sometimes something half decent comes out of the speakers.
I know basuc music theory and chords and keys so I can get around any manuscript OK.
My main motivation at the moment is breaking the mould. I try to do something different with every mix. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't quite come off. I create a new folder for every project and start over either with the same basic settings or something completely different.
I generally don't spend more than a couple of hours on any one piece. If things aren't working I tend to know pretty early on and so don't waste too much time.
If you want the details of this piece, drop me a note and I'll fill in the blanks for you, where I can. I try not to have any secrets on here.
Take care.
