Anyway girly, this is gorgeous - beautiful signing... effortless and flawless. Really catchy chorus... this works acoustically and would also suit the full band and orchestra. Great song.

Thank man! I'm planning on tackling it this week. Maybe some drums, a little live cello. That's always hilarious! I am NOT good at the cello, which is why it sometimes comes out great. But sometimes it sounds like a dying whale! haha!

flawed! but you deftly shed any concept of that musically with this amazing track. I do believe I have never heard her wonderful voice so expansive and heartfelt. This may be a first pass, but it stands proudly on its own as is.

Beautiful. Thanks for the new one. I love your note about trying to get away from the slash-my-wrists genre. Bravo, this is totally going somewhere else. I love how you open up your lungs a bit on the 4th and 5th stanzas especially "on your way down" line. Really nice.

Because you know I have your best interests in mind, here is my constructive crit: I think that the Takamine sound it a little thin. It gets a little ploink-y and should have a bit more middle and bass EQ. Tha being said, what I think it might use as an additional element is a bass guitar coming in quietly at about the 4th stanza and then even possibly some strings--no I take that back--too melodramatic. Just the bass, to hold down the bottom end and add a bit of depth.

That's it. Loved it...

This is very cool. In fact, I think the vocals on this are stronger than some of your other work. Very powerful. I hear some simply flanged guitar (a la Twin Peaks). Good job!

of the acoustic guitar. LIke how you blend the guitar so well with your terrific voice. LIke how you can use your voice to almost sound like a steel pedal guitar. Note sure how to make my words come up with the type of sound you make but it sure sounds wonderful.

Such a TREAT to hear such wonderful female vocal sounds here at MJ, I know i've praised your singing before on one not far back from this one, but really. You have a terrific vocal talent. And we MJers sure are lucky to have you here. Hope you can stay and that it is a long one!

And what's cool in this song is to see and hear you being brave enough to stretch what you do while not going at it like a dilettante or doing it by abandoning taste altogether...

I really like the song as a song. The lyric and melody are great.

I'm with Philip in terms of enjoying the open voice as the song goes along. In fact, I'm with Philip pretty much right along... My main point of suggested tweakness remains the acoustic guitar sound... I'd just experiment with a halfway decent mic and changing the position a whole bunch until it gets that warmth-without-boom. The suggestion regarding some bass is also a good one. And, you know me, double it, or do a second strum with the guitar capoed somewhere so that you can pan it left and right and have slightly different sounds...
