Description
This is a song I wrote and sang for my son when he was about one. He would get up in the morning and end up over at my piano. He always would watch me so intently and seemed to really connect with the music. At that age, anything you can do to keep a kids attention is priceless. I just started singing this song off the top of my head and began writing down the lyrics As my son connected with the music, I tried to connect with him - and a jazzy little tune was born.

Lyrics
Hey my boy
it has been a long, long night
did you dream away
did you make everything alright
it's been hard to know
exactly whats goin on
I feel I'm just half here
floating along in song
But hey man
it's alright tonight
I'm gonna help make everything alright
Lets take a walk
look up at the sky
you see that bird, that plane
hey maybe you can fly
I wish I could see the world
like I think you do
each day I look at you
you teach me something new
it has been a long, long night
did you dream away
did you make everything alright
it's been hard to know
exactly whats goin on
I feel I'm just half here
floating along in song
But hey man
it's alright tonight
I'm gonna help make everything alright
Lets take a walk
look up at the sky
you see that bird, that plane
hey maybe you can fly
I wish I could see the world
like I think you do
each day I look at you
you teach me something new

THIS IS FABULOUS!! I'm so happy to get "firsties" on this wonderful tune. What a gem - that it started "off the top of your head" to entertain your little son, and has turned into this amazing musical connector between you and him FOREVER! This song is making me smile, laugh, cry - FEEL. I can't say enough about how this is hitting me - thank you so much for posting this, it's such a treasure. Your son is lucky to have you for a dad!
