Description:
I've been playing around with my new friend, my electric guitar, and this is my newest installment.

I didn't intend for this to be a spiritual song, because I'm not all that spiritual, but as I listen to it, I realize that it is. Maybe some part of me peeked out while I wasn't looking?

Hope you like.

Stacey

Lyrics:
LIFTED
Stacey K. Black

I'm alive and you are too
i can tell by your eyes
you are lifted you are lifted

i can smile and so can you
i can tell by your face
you are lifted you are lifted

and you will never come down
never come down

i'm in pain and you are too
i can tell by your resilience
you are lifted you are lifted

i can take strain and so can you
i can tell by your strength
you are lifted you are lifted

and you will never come down
never come down

oh, it's a borrowed road we travel
so many feet have marched this path before
and there's nothing we can't conquer
as long as we can laugh
as long as we can laugh some more

i often cry and you do too
i can tell by your tears
you are lifted you are lifted

and you will never come down
never come down

oh, it's a borrowed road we travel
so many feet have marched along this path before
and there's nothing we can't conquer
as long as we can laugh
as long as we can laugh some more

cause we are lifted we are lifted
(never come down)
we are lifted we are lifted
(never come down)
we are lifted we are lifted...

What a treat .... &mdash 04/11/08 - 10:40:01 PM
.. I just finished commenting on "flawed" and "ping" up came my email notification of a new Stacey tune .... well I hustled right over here .... glad I did ... you have the best female voice on MJs .... I still wonder what the heck you are are doing here and not selling your stuff ... it must come down to "who you know" because "what you know" should be selling like hotcakes ! Your gift of harmonies are truly on spot !

Dear Stacey &mdash 04/11/08 - 11:21:15 PM
every "lifted" in the last line of each verse I would replace with "gifted" and then the song would really tell, what I feel and what feels everyone who ever listens to you and to your music.
Alannah is right, you have truly the best female voice here on Macjams.
Congratulations to your big talent. Every single song (this one included) is really a treat.
"You are gifted...." 2x
:)

oh wow Stacey - this is BEAUTIFUL!! This is one of my most faves of anything I've heard of yours (and I really love your music generally). This is a step above. Why you aren't world famous is beyond me! Congratulations!

pretty &mdash 04/12/08 - 10:03:10 AM
as always your voice is lovely. lyrics are great. the soft playing to the chords and the rhythem really creates space for your beautiful singing. it really suits the mood and the distortion does add it's emotion to the track. always seems odd to me that a distorted electric guitar playing chords can feel so emotional yet it often does add so much emotion. i hope your new toys keep sparking your creativity :) i think you were right you hit something inside yourself during this track, spiritual because you touched some hidden spark and feeling. if it keeps your creativity going than know i shall keep listening to your music is one of few on here that is really my style

Ascent Without Assent? &mdash 04/12/08 - 10:26:31 AM
So... you were *lifted* when you weren't looking, eh?

Spirituality doesn't necessarily have anything to do with religiosity, unless one chooses to apply it so.

Methinks you are more *spiritual* than you recognize. The reflective insights in your lyrics make it fairly obvious.

I really like this spirited tune and it sounds like you're adapting quickly --- and nicely --- to your new Eppy (Ooo, a LP no less). Watch out for back strain playing that one. The arrangement displays sound musical instincts and the little accents from the guitar work well.

I really like this new chapter in the *Stacey Diaries*. We may have turned an important page here. ;)

Do let us know... &mdash 04/12/08 - 04:56:05 PM
...when Geffen or Warners brings out that first CD...

You have great songwriting instincts and great singing instincts, Stacey.

On this tune, I'm also aware of what you're doing in the performance and arrangement with the dynamics, which is all to the good.

Another cool song...

your voice is ! Of course the rest of you too, which includes the background music adds a lot to this wonderful musical sound.

Love how you can go so high in your vocal range. What a gift !

Thanks for sharing this fun to hear tune!

Absolutely fabulous!

What a wonderful song, and your voice is just beautiful!
The sparse guitar playing is well done, and I dig the drums you have added.

Very nice lyrics.... Outstanding Voices... It shows you really
love what you do by the detail and the care in which you've
done this..... I'm truly impressed...
Although I find the instrumentation a bit sparse, never the less
it all works well together..... AND

Let's hear it for girls with electrics &mdash 04/30/08 - 07:18:50 AM
Doncha just love electric guitars? So much more responsive than acoustics, which is really liberating.

I like the "sparse" arrangement, it gives the song room to breathe and the vocals some space to shine.

You have a lovely voice and it really excels on those high notes ... not straining at all, just soaring.

Cool Tone &mdash 05/17/08 - 09:01:11 AM
The tone your getting on your guitar on this is sweet. Also, love the harmonies. Great job. Look forward to listening to more of your posts.

I really love the acoustic feel of this song, mixed with the sweet sound of that new e-guitar. Sometimes it's amazing what the soul has to say through music. You've really let yourself shine through on this and it's absolutely beautiful. Very touching and moving. Thank you - and thanks for the download. This is something I want to listen to over and over again.
