Description:
I don't know what inspired it, but I think it's the need to think more clearly about my life.
Yes, that's it! It's a protest song!
Yes, that's it! It's a protest song!
Lyrics:
This city's gonna breakThe pressure is too great
We sit around and calculate our fate
This city's gonna break
Let's rise above the Crowd
We'll turn our minds around
Open your eyes, we'll show them what we found
Let's rise beyond the Crowd
I thought I knew them, I only watched them in my dreams
And had I got to know them, I wouldn't be here, so it seems
The city's comin' down
Now it's too late to run
We brace ourselves to get our work day done
We call it "Freedom Town"

to strike me is the great drum sound on this and the overall production is top notch. Love the dragging beat. Great guitar sounds. Lyrics, vocals and song are first rate too. Enjoyed.
Cheers

Thanks man. I wanted to make a slow blues. I think it's my favorite setting. It doesn't seem to age. But maybe that's just me.
Do you ever notice with all the people getting older around you, you don't seem to be aging?
Me.
Anyhow, your comments are much appreciated, Len.

on this are very simple but very striking.. The drums are great and the guitar sounded as if it was in my room it was so natural. I really like your voice too on this... sort of laid back as is the beat, enjoyed, regards M

Simple is good, for me. Then I can focus on my presentation. Face it, I need any bit of help I can get!
But I enjoyed putting a bit into my vocals. I have been trying to remember to do this, lately. It makes it even more fun!
Peace,
Doug

Love the slow as molasses, limp lazy, doggy draggin' groove you've created on this post.Musically I really like the drum and guitar tones, especially those ping-pong guitar effects and the lyrical and vocal work, right on target.Good stuff Doug.

Pleasure for your visit! I could have made it more crunchy, grindy, punchy and pounding. But I'm glad I went-y this way.
Thanks man, it was really fun to put together and experiment with a few techniques.
Peace,
Doug

Woah, pretty deep stuff here! I love the overall feel -- kind of sluggish (what Len called a 'dragging beat'), kind of dreamy, or like a memory... or something like that. I think this is a really good song.
Doadars Uncle
Glad for you comments!
The dream here is reality, or reality the dream...?
Happy you like the song!

Very nice Doug! I like the way you've used the very slow drums to hold this in check. Great vocal performance - and an amazingly clear production. Shades of "Hurdy Gurdy Man" in there - enjoying this a lot.

Guess it's the freakside of me! Pscho-phunk-a-disrest Blues!
Glad you like the production.
Singing was fun. One of my favorite parts is how the lyrics turned out. They just happened. Musta been in the flow.

Yes, it does have a timelessness about it Doug. The progression and production are truly classic. Lovely understated guitar soloing. But the real treat for me here is the singing. Excellent job!
Be well friend!

Nice to see you! Simple is good, sometimes.
Happy for your comments!

track. It has that despair and ambiguity that would sound great great on an indie film. The lazy vocal and beat works great!
Doadars Uncle
Sounds like fun. Know anybody who's making a movie? Ha-ha!
Glad you stopped by!

This is such a solid piece of music. But I think adding a female voice would give it a whole new dimension. Still fantastic as it stands though.
Doadars Uncle
Interesting suggestion. I'll give that some thought!
Glad you like it!
Peace,
Doug
I so enjoyed the song. It's full of heart, & some menace in a steely-city feel.

and thrice woe....utter despair and despondency from the first drumbeat...classic style of angst ridden gut wrenching leaden footed depression with just a tad, a glimmer of hope in the far off not here yet...what's the word....oh aye ,the future....great song. excellent production and all....Jarvoid
