Description:
2nd post - actually the first song we tried to put together (3 years ago) after many inactive years. Its sloppy and loose and we never did get around to filling in the gaps. Or playing the solos. And it needs a good edit. And...
Originally it was going to be called Cliché and there sure are a lot of them in there but I had fun putting them all together and I think that says it all!
ILoveVariousJoe - Vocals & Sloppy Guitars
ILoveVariousJeremy - Electric Bass
ILoveVariousPeter - Vocal Harmony
Lyrics:
I’m flying, clouds are rolling out around my head
I wish I was back on the ground instead
I’m riding, surfaces & circuses and steam
Everything that happens is exactly like it seems
I can’t believe I’m making this go up again
I’m setting myself up to fall, I’m climbing up that wall
Don’t be surprised to find me landing at your feet
Fall into a heap, It’s all to easy to slip
Want him next to me but I’m going to have to get over it
Oh, did I mention, I saw someone looked just like you… in a bar.
It could have been your sister, but no way as pretty as you are!
Uh….I can’t believe I just said that - it wasn’t what I called you up to say
Never dreamed I’d say out loud the silly things I think about
I can’t believe I’m making this up in my head
It never rains unless it pours wet like cement of course
Don’t be surprised if I stop answering your calls
Oh, I thought you called me? definitely losing my grip
Want ASAP but I’m going have to get over it
I’m cooking on stupid signs, too hard basket, hopes & rhymes
I’m a fish on an open line, hooked and all at sea
What does he think of me? What does he think I see?
Now I’m flying, clouds are rolling down around my feet
Never planned on taking flight, guess I’m a tank of super-light
Gliding, circling, fall into a heap
I’m a crash into the ground; I am the rain that’s pouring down
Why can’t you see I’m making this up in my head
Set a flame to catch your eye to set your soul alight
Don’t be surprised to find these ashes at your feet - throw them on in the sea
Just a little piece of grit and that’s why I can’t see
But I’m going have to get over it

Oh yes! &mdash 04/13/08 - 07:07:39 AM
Joe - a killer - Peter does those harmonies so nicely (as ever) - is Jed on bass?
I'd counsel posting one at a time, but you'll sure make an impression with these two!

Thanks neil &mdash 04/14/08 - 11:57:10 AM
you have been a power of inspiration and 30 years on (omg 30?) its great to be making music "together" again. Yes Jed and Peter both feature on this one - now if only I could convince Peter to get writing and singing again... sigh! [ Reply to This ]
Fantastic!!!! &mdash 04/13/08 - 08:28:00 AM
Beautiful song.
I love your singing and it sounds so heart felt and sincere I love it.
I hope you are over it now. You could certainly be flying with this song.
Its brilliant. Thanks for sharing I am downloading this one to my Ipod.
Peace Dee.

over it? never! &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:10:31 PM
ha. Thanks Dee. I am so glad you liked. It certainly was a labor of love and was the song that eventually led me back to singing and making music again. [ Reply to This ]
Well &mdash 04/13/08 - 08:50:37 AM
This deserves a finish. I hope do give it some more time! I like it a lot! [ Reply to This ]
hey thanks &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:17:29 PM
I do hope to re-work this one day and finish it - unfortunately lost a lot of the parts when i closed the "studio" down one day without saving properly and it's a little lonely and sad when i go back there and the room is empty :(
One day though! [ Reply to This ]
I'm a fan &mdash 04/13/08 - 08:55:28 AM
especially since I'm a sucker for harmonies. Nothing wrong with sloppy and loose... or from another perspective- free and easy. Really has the feel of a live jam.. nice and relaxed, like after a couple of glasses of wine.
Another nice one- really like the bridge! [ Reply to This ]
I'll have a red thanks &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:24:21 PM
and then a white...and a few pills - oops, no wait, i am definitely over it now lol. Thanks Adam. Singing about falling in love sure is easier than doing it. And eventually you get to have a laugh. [ Reply to This ]

thanks &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:26:02 PM
Very nice &mdash 04/13/08 - 01:45:46 PM
If this is "sloppy and loose" I'll take it any day. A very nice tune. I love the harmonies. Very nice and tight. And finally, someone who can singer higher than me ;) [ Reply to This ]
hey Joe - oops, i couldnt resist that! &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:30:58 PM
I can't really sing high but i was in love and getting squeezed at the time LOL. Thanks for listening [ Reply to This ]
I'm having this early impression... &mdash 04/13/08 - 02:42:37 PM
...that you guys may have, long ago, heard some Moby Grape. Tell me I'm wrong...
Nice sort of run-on lyrics that nevertheless have form and structure to 'em. The multi-guitars, bass, and harmonies really bring it to life. I find myself listening hard to the harmonies.
This is cool in rough form, but I'll also look forward to any tighter versions that ever see the light. It's easy to hear how far this could go...

Moby who? &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:39:27 PM
just kidding! They were so wrong and so right - what a mighty band. So much talent and so many great songs - the guitar figure from "She" pops into my head at least once every week.
I would never have picked their influence on this one (more George & Tammy?) but i do love being able to go through and spot the references. Even the cheesy ones are fun. Thanks Ed, one day we'll get back and finish it. [ Reply to This ]
Over It &mdash 04/13/08 - 03:08:59 PM

its all about - flying &mdash 04/14/08 - 12:45:58 PM
and that was the other, other original title. But enough with the Byrds references! I have to admit i also love the harmonies (Peter) and Jed's flowing bass lines. It's unfinished and a bit indulgent but we like that sometimes lol [ Reply to This ]
Now I%u2019m flying &mdash 04/13/08 - 03:28:30 PM
You sound pretty pro here.
Very good stuff, and again a very well crafted song.
Love those harmonies. [ Reply to This ]
big thanks &mdash 04/14/08 - 10:03:17 PM
I think Peter is a great singer and he loves to get his head around the harmonies - the stranger the better. [ Reply to This ]
Very pro &mdash 04/13/08 - 07:41:45 PM
I love all in this... Hard to find words it is just so cool... Cheers

nicely done &mdash 04/14/08 - 08:42:57 AM
world weary vocal tells a tale of .....well i'm not sure WHAT the tale is - but it sure has an interesting flavor! wonderful chord progressions and some really cool changes. swell harmony - not the usual run of the mill stuff, either. who is the HIM in "i want HIM next to me but i'm gonna have to get over it"? unusual song, and i sure like it!

Ha - actually it's US now, but that will probably be a another song altogether. I am so glad you enjoyed it - i have become a big fan of your stuff (and a whole lot of other people on here too) and i sure hope i can seduce you into singing something with us (no, not THAT us lol) sometime. Cliches well placed &mdash 04/14/08 - 07:54:56 PM
Sounds great to me. I love the melody line and the execution of the lead vocal. The bass takes the lead comfortably to my ear. A pleasure to listen; give me more. [ Reply to This ]
real men eat cliche... &mdash 04/14/08 - 11:14:32 PM
I thought the bass in this was a great foil and once i got the drum track to sit ON the beat instead of off it, the song shifted into gear and took off. Thanks for stoppin by and for the kind words. [ Reply to This ]
Good one &mdash 04/15/08 - 06:47:30 AM
...I love that instrumental break just before last verse...it was just a tate of the Who and damnit there is something about the whole sound that is familiar....but is it familiar cos it is mostly unique?Aha a conunderdrum....condudru....conder...balls...a
mystery...Like it a lot

yes them too &mdash 04/15/08 - 12:00:06 PM
another great band and i'm sure there are some of their influence floating around in there. Glad you enjoyed and big thank. [ Reply to This ]
I understand &mdash 04/16/08 - 04:11:30 PM
Read your description and know what you mean. I have tons of songs where I said, "I fill the gaps in later", but never did.
This is country. Great country music. Better than the stuff you can hear on the radio more in the style of the Eagles or Dylan.
Good, good song gentlemen.
