Description:
A song about alienation whether in a crowd or alone, and how simple human contact, even in the form of entertainment, can be enough to make one feel a part of the whole.

Lyrics:
Used to be the world was a friendly place
Everybody had a familiar face
Life was slow
Then the starter's gun for the human race
Crammed us in the city, a lonely place
For the soul

Chorus:
Late night television in the room
Infomercial selling some new broom
Movies made of Technicolor dreams
Some old man is fishing western streams
And I never really feel alone
With a television and a phone

Some who were around strangers all day long
Lost their way in multi-cultural throng
A nameless face
Packed and moved away to that country air
Neighbor is a deer and a mangy hare
A lonely place

[Chorus]

Doesn't really matter if there're crowds or space
Doesn't really matter whatever the place
That you live
It's all about the people you have met
Whether face to face, phone or internet
Got love to give

[Chorus]

Thank you, SGF. I'm one of those people who is very grateful for the loops,
because they're what allow me to write songs.

it indeed.

Thank you, Bill! I'll admit that of the songs I've written, this is one of my
personal favorites. It doesn't get a lot of attention, but that's okay.
Songwriting shouldn't be about attention, anyway. It's about expressing
something that's inside of you. That's what this song did for me.

Great Lyrics &mdash 03/24/05 - 09:54:23 AM
You have captured a part of modern life that hasn't been
written about nearly as much as it should. Certainly not in
the song field. Excellent writing.

Great Lyrics &mdash 03/25/05 - 12:39:21 AM
Thank you, Bronco! This is one of those songs where, for me, the lyrics were
the most important part of the song. Sort of a "I have something to say" kind
of thing.

Really nicely constructed ... I like the way it changes
through major and minor keys so fluidly. Your voice
is strong and resonant but still has a delicate and
fragile edge to it. Very lovely!

Great choice of artwork too.

Thank you, Rebsie! Writing this song turned a corner for me on my
GarageBand learning curve. Maybe that's why it's a little special to me.

Heartfelt tune &mdash 05/09/05 - 12:49:24 PM
This is really nice...it captures the sense of alienation that
can be experienced with urban living..and also rural living.
But also the hope. I like the positive message of this one,
the tune and performance are really good. Parts of it
remind me of Joni Mitchell circa 'Court and Spark'

Thank you, Steve! The theme is one most people struggle with at one time or
another. But even when isolated, we tend to find our comfort somewhere,
even if it's watching TV or playing on the internet.

Thank you, Dented! It's a real treat to see that someone listened to one of my
older songs.

I really like chords when you say the title also the opening piano is very delicate and well done. Yep, this was definitly made with GB hehe. I was like, wait a sec, I know that loop! To bad I cant ever get mine to work that well together! I guess some people are talented and some arent.

Thank you, Drumpat! I have to use loops because I don't play any instruments
well. And the truth is, you can get away with a lot when you sing over the
loops. drowning them out. That's our little secret, okay?
