Sorry i have been away so long but its great to be back
This song is called The Last
Lyrics:
Take your love and your big expectationsTake your time,
but I don't need your explanations
Take your words, take the couch,
and your records too
Take your guilt and the guitar I gave you
I’m cleaning house, cleaning up,
Need a peace of mind
I’m cashing out,
Just fed up can't sleep at night
The game is called let's finally say
What we always knew
Not looking back cause I’m over you
You're not the last man left
or the last of my disasters (your not the last, you never were)
You 're not my last mistake
or the first to make me cry (your not the last, you never were)
So the last word is yours,
I’m moving on to ever after (your not the last, you never were)
but you're the last time I’ll ever compromise (your not the last, you never were)
It's 3 a.m. and once again I’m loosing it
I’m at the end and on the mend
but feeling stupid
You live and learn gotta find out who you are
but it still burns to be tossed back in the dark
So thanks for making me a little bit stronger
why does always being
so dumb make us smarter
The clock is ticking things are changing it's a new moon
and I’ll move on cause I always do
You're not the last man left
or the last of my disasters (your not the last, you never were)
You 're not my last mistake
or the first to make me cry (your not the last, you never were)
So the last word is yours,
I’m moving on to ever after (your not the last, you never were)
but you're the last time I’ll ever compromise (your not the last, you never were)
We may have said forever and a day
but there are some promises you break
Nothings lasts, what can I say?
It was meant to be this way
So goodbye I hope your skies are blue
I’ll go and take a piece of you
Nothings lasts, what can I say?
It was meant to be this way
You're not the last man left
or the last of my disasters (your not the last, you never were)
You 're not my last mistake
or the first to make me cry (your not the last, you never were)
So the last word is yours,
I’m moving on to ever after (your not the last, you never were)
but you're the last time I’ll ever compromise (your not the last, you never were)
You're not the last man left
or the last of my disasters
You 're not my last mistake
or the first to make me cry
So the last word is yours,
I’m moving on to ever after (your not the last, you never were)
but you're the last time I’ll ever compromise (your not the last, you never were)

Very catchy Pro sounding Pop.
Your voice suits this type of song really well. This song sounds like it would fit right at home on the pop radio stations.
Nice.

Nicely done.
Although the opening guitar part sounds a great deal like the one in Christopher Cross' old hit *Sailing*, the melody of your tune is considerably different enough to carry it into *safe waters*. ;)
Good luck to you!

Another very professional sounding, well written and performed song. Really delightful. Once again, though, it is too loud and it's pretty steadily clipping all the way through. I hear a lot of distortion, even on the lead vocal. I don't know if you can go back and remix or remaster this, but it's clearly overly loud in my book. It might match up with some commercial releases, but I think it could be better, levels-wise. Other than that it's a wonderful song with a cool vibe going on, and I hope you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism.

...so nicely arranged and the energy level is great throughout, almost breathless, but not quite. Your voice and style fit the lyrics perfectly and you sing with great conviction. I generally turn the volume up some because I want to hear all the nuances of a piece. This one, however, is pretty loud straight out. I don't here the distortion mentioned above, but I suppose you'd have to be careful. There's quite a lot of treble going on. Maybe just to back off of that a tad would mellow out the vocal AND instruments. ... I really liked this piece a lot and am glad I listened.
Peace.

I like this song a lot, but the volume is killing it for me, so not just trusting my ears, I opened it up in Peak and checked it out with Bias Reveal's Peak Meter which inspects for clips, and there are 134 clips on the Left channel and 154 clips on the Right. The distortion is definitely there. If I turn it down, I can still hear it. I reduced the Gain by -3 db, and it was a much more enjoyable listen, but the clips have squashed the tops of the waves, so you just get a quieter sound which reveals how it's been overly compressed. I have to say something because I think this could be a hit song commercially, but it would be a simple matter of reducing the gain in the premastering stage. I have to say, though, that you hear a lot of this type of overly compressed sound on the radio these days, but that doesn't make it good. I am only talking about the mastering quality, and not the quality of the songwriting or performance or arrangement, and I want to be clear about that.

Even if this is not exactly the style of music I listen to, your performance is flawless and outstanding. So professional ! Excellent arrangements too. Will not be surprised to hear you in a next future on the radio. For sure !

time I'll be checking out your music. I've got you on the Macjams equivalent of speed dial... the favorite's instant notification option... You have a tremendous voice. I'm grateful you are sharing you talent here!

I agree with Jim on the volume thing - he really does know what he's talking about on this. For me this would fit nicely into most of the current commercial "pop" radio stations playlists - even with the clipping - it's just the way a lot of music sounds these days.
I'd be really interested in some details about the production of your songs - who plays what, what sort of setup you used etc. It sounds very pro to me (although I'm doubting that a pro studio would make all those volume errors Jim mentioned).
Great voice Jade - really true and expressive.

This has a catchy chorus and a very professional sound. Have to agree about the volume, but great job overall! Do you do the music too? You have a great voice.

sounds so good to me in all respects, but I leave the criticism to those with more knowledge about recording than myself.... yet I enjoyed it and your vocals, regards M
Great piece, the music work is killer and your vocals are superb. A big official welcome to MJ from me... This is very pro sounding, I'm out of words really!

Definitely could hear this on the radio. Great song writing skills and beautiful voice. I love how everything cuts out towards the end during the last chorus and then comes back in. Very cool - thanks!

Really nice and hooky song. The "Sailing" reference that the guitar plays is kind of cool. The bridge sounds so cool and almost gives me a Cat Stevens vibe. Very well done.
