Lyrics:
ImperfectionFrom the first day to the last
Imperfection
From the first page to the last
Imperfection
And so I go
To another day
To another day, but I will stay
From my first drink to my last
Imperfection
From my first word to my last
Imperfection
And so I go
To another day
To another day, but I will stay
From my first thought to my last
Imperfection
From my first song to my last
Imperfection
And so I go
To another day
To another day, but I will stay
I will never try
I will never try
For imperfection

im was a perfectionist and finally realized i cant do anything perfect. so i mostly gave up on trying to be perfect and just let things come out. simple lyrics that fit the song. it seems to be when you get to that point you cant even think of why its imperfect anymore other than it simply isnt. kinda cool way the vocals were done has that brooding feel of sitting there in your room pondering your imperfections.
lavalamp
Glad you could appreciate this kind of song.
Don't be a stranger.

because people are strange when you're a stranger

Lovely song Dave and a great lyrical idea. It's what makes us human, of course, G.B. Loopenstein wouldn't understand.
Good production too. Definitely one of your best.
Cheers

G.B. cried after hearing what you said. Loops have feelings, too. lol
Thanks for listening and thanks a bunch for the compliment.

great tune Dave. has a kind of Lennon vibe to it. nicely laid out piano and i like the choice of drums that you set in here. Imperfection rocks in its own way.
lavalamp
was the reason I put this up, I originally did this one last Fall, but it got put on the throw away list.
I revisited this last week and tried to play with it and this was the best I could do.
I can see the Lennon thing.
Thanks,
LL
P.S. I've got an idea for a collab if you're interested.

sounds good by me Dave

I like the emotional contrast of the music with the lyrics. well performed and sung. love the bass in this. well done dave.
lavalamp
LOVED your latest w/dlb, just great.
This was not one of my favorites, but I thought it was worthy of posting.
Glad you dug the bass line. I originally had phase on it, but chose to keep it clean.
Thanks Rikk,
Dave

love that piano intro, and then it turns into a reallllly nice lennonesque song. i'm glad your not "perfect." i'll settle for style, vision and humanity anyday. great job friend.
lavalamp
about Lennon, I guess. Flawed, but soulful. You know what I mean. I think I was in my Cold Play mode when I wrote this.
Thanks for the compliment.

This is GREAT!! It is Lennonesque - can't be that! I love the way you did the vocals, love the intro piano - this whole song is excellent. Download!!
lavalamp
Great compliment. I'm really glad you liked this. I actually consider this to be a throw away song. I guess that's why this is such a great site because you never know.
Glad I didn't trash this after all.
I have always loved John and any comparison I take as high compliment.
Thanks and enjoy the week ahead.

It was just me on this tune. Get it? Loopenstein? I played along with a piano loop that worked with this.

Your Imperfection and my Mediocrity both have the same basic message! Cool song David!!!

Especially the bass line - but the song has a whole has a good loose feel to it. Nicely done!
lavalamp
Thanks for the comments Luna. Luna is my dog's sister's name, by the way. lol
Thanks again,
LL
I agree with the "Lennon-esque" comparison. Although I hear a little Moody Blues herein as well.
Nice introspective lyrics. Lovely melody. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
I, for one, have found perfection only in Christ. I will never ---in my lifetime--even approach perfection. I will, hoever, always strive to be a little better than I am.
Be well my friend!
lavalamp
I may have been a little deep in my description, because I know that being perfect is not realistic. And you should never put goals like that upon yourself. Just try your best. Ya know?
Thanks for the kind words as always.
Stay cool,
Dave

Great song Dave - love the bass especially - and your subtle backing vox are really good. Agree with the others about the Lennon quality - but to me that also means timeless quality. I also hear some Alex Chilton in this - which is big props in my book. Excellent sentiment and great lyrics.
lavalamp
Hmmm, I have to check him out. Hope you had fun with Bob and the gang in the city.
Glad you liked this and thanks a million.

and when I saw the picture of the Leaning Tower, I cracked up. Perfect. What a great lyrical concept, and very well executed. Your voice sounds great here, and I love the backing vocals. The drums sounds great, and the piano works very well throughout. You never disappoint, my friend. This is another great performance and a great song. Very cool. Nicely done. Peace.

For a song about imperfection it is so perfect. It is very pleasing to the senses. I am not a perfectionist, but you have given me a window into the frustration of that personality. Thank you for this song you have yet another fan.
Peace and Love,
Mike
