Description:
Final CD version of this one, which is the title track.

Lyrics:
Well, I've been looking back at my life (count regrets)
I'll never change the past
Yet it's on my mind
Certain memories, they haunt me (can't forget)
But I have found a way
To leave them all behind

A new beginning is what You offer
And I accept
My soul is wide awake
Where once it had slept

A change of scenery can
Change the way I'm feeling
A change of heart can
Can change the way I live my life
And in my vision there's a different kind of focus
What I had seen before
Is nothing like I'm seeing now

A new beginning is what You offer
And I accept
My soul is wide awake
Where once it had slept
When I was lost
And only following myself
You were waiting there
To offer something else

The old has gone,
The new has come
And I'm a new creation

A new beginning is what You offer
And I accept
You've chosen to forget
Where my skeletons were kept
When I was in the dark
And searching for my shadow
You were there to shine
Your light through my window

[instrumental break]

A new beginning is what You offer
And I accept
My soul is wide awake
Where once it had slept
When I was lost
And only following myself
You were waiting there
To offer something else

A new beginning in my life
A new ambition for my heart
A change of focus for my soul
The new has come, and the old is left behind
Oh, a new beginning...

This is rich! &mdash 04/19/08 - 09:53:20 PM
These vocals are exceptional. Great harmony! Instrumentals done by bass are difficult. This one worked very nicely. Thanks for sharing. Terry

Cool stuff &mdash 04/20/08 - 07:35:14 AM
It sounds good, but this sort of production is not my taste. You have the vocals way in front of the mix, which is nice for intelligibility, but it reduces the rhythm guitar to a bee-in-a-jar drone. Apart from the production I dig the song as such.

mix &mdash 04/20/08 - 09:41:55 AM
Part of that was intentional, part of it wasn't. I did a lot of research on how to prepare a mix before sending it off for mastering and a common thread was to bring the vocals way up front (especially if they're the key element of a song), since mastering will bring the instruments up (with compression, etc). Well, that didn't happen nearly as much as we had anticipated. We still want the vocals up in the mix, but not quite this much. For the next CD (which we're already working on), the balance will be better. Thanks for stopping by!
