Description:
Another piece from my recent classical project. I suppose it is programmatic and impressionistic in that it evokes a particular scene and a collection of faded memories. Thanks for your feedback and advice.

It's from a collection of short pieces, often linear rather than cyclic. My choice not to end with a restatement is not always popular.

i like the powerful build at the end. that definitely dragged me in i would have loved that heavyness with the mellow breaks to continue a little

Thanks Draconis &mdash 04/21/08 - 09:25:43 AM
I'm glad you didn't find the opening melodic lines too repetitive.

Very interesting track. &mdash 04/22/08 - 08:17:09 PM
You definitely have an ear for classical music. A very pleasant listen!

Thanks for taking a listen... &mdash 04/26/08 - 02:11:22 AM
I grew up in orchestras and got my formal training on cello - before discovering Guitar and the underworld of rock and its derrivatives. It's in my blood I suppose - and its good to get feedback from likeminded folks.

very nice! Like Heightened said, you have an "ear" for the classical genre. I liked when the staccato strings came in, but then the song suddenly was over - felt a little abrupt to me, but that's SO subjective. Trust yourself!

Thanks again Karen &mdash 04/26/08 - 02:47:38 PM
It's one of a few short pieces that perhaps work better in conjunction by themselves - but I take your point. Your encouragement is golden!

sweet &mdash 04/30/08 - 11:01:55 AM
this is a nice piece, more traditional than the last 2 I just listened to. your classical upbringing really shows. this is great, although i prefer your more experimental pieces (i'm a sucker for dissonance). that said; i am really impressed by your composition and arranging skills. makes me feel like a hack.

I love dissonance also - &mdash 04/30/08 - 07:35:08 PM
And that is where I'm heading next. These pieces were written for my father - who is a lover of late Romantic, impressionism, and pre-rite Stravinsky. In such, I tried to blend consonance and dissonance in a way that could be appreciated by classicists and avant gardists alike.

Very nice &mdash 04/30/08 - 09:43:04 PM
Have you considered doing electronic versions of some of this stuff? Substituting the orchestral sounds for electronic emulations (or non emulations even)

I haven't &mdash 05/01/08 - 12:50:15 AM
..but it's an interesting idea. I crank out so much new music- I'm notoriously bad for not going back and reworking stuff. I have just started to re-do old songs - for the first time - so it's a remote possibility!

Wow! &mdash 05/25/08 - 02:24:26 PM
I like it from the start! Is there more?

I would really like to hear an entire piece.

So far, I heard a couple "red lines" in the right side of my headphones, but besides that. I think it is really powerful sounding and the mix and production and performance were outstanding. I enjoyed it a lot.

Great Job! and Welcome To MacJams!

Thanks so much &mdash 05/26/08 - 06:27:12 PM
This is a smaller piece that perhaps works better in context with other pieces that go with it. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it - and hope to hear more of your stuff also!
